FREUDAN SKIP more like it. SKIP this place. They are reknowned for their bad attitude towards customers and accuse people of being "blatant liars" instead of taking the time to listen and getting their facts straight! I had an awful experience at this cafe this morning. One that warrants a review. My girlfriends and I went for breakfast, we ordered at the counter and sat outside. I ordered 2 pieces of toast with jam and a coffee. Our coffee's arrived and then my friend's hot breakfasts came out one by one. Some of them had finished theirs and my toast still had not arrived. As I had ordered before them all, I asked whether my toast was on its way. The girl checked and said my order had been lost and I recited what I had ordered. I finally recieved my toast and was enjoying it when one of my girlfriends who had gone in to get a drink was asked by staff whether I had paid for my toast, which she advised I had and had been waiting on it. Weird, but ok.
My other girlfriend went in to use the toilet and when she came back she also said she had been asked whether I had paid and if i could provide proof. I was pretty upset after hearing this, especially as noone had approached me directly! I got my bank statement receipt on my phone and went inside to talk to the staff. I said that my two of my friends were approached and asked whether i had paid for my $10.50 toast order and I would like to speak to a Manager. The barrister said she would like to see my receipt and therefore assumed it waa her asking my friends for proof. I showed her the proof and then asked me what the problem was!
I had to then explain again that apparently my order had been lost, remade and my friends had been questioned as to whether i had paid. She then changed tone and said that it was fine and they believed that I had paid. Another lady came out from out the back and asked what the issue was to which the barrister said everthing was fine.I suspect to not draw attention to their error. I was pretty upset at this point as I didnt recieve aknowledgement of any error or wrong doing on their part, but made out that it was an issue i had created! I didn't receive an apology or any explanation, all this over a $10.50 order of toast. Absolutely horrid experience and bad attitude from the barista who has provided a horrid response below. For full thread including vouching from TWO people that they were asked for payment proof, please goto the businesses facebook page review section. Absolutely appalling and repeat offenders of this gaslighting behaviour towards...
Read moreThere are coffee shops where you quickly stop by pick your coffee and leave. And there are coffee shops like FREUDIAN SIP where you feel like taking a seat and spend some quality time alone or with friends.
Ambience: The ambience of the place is like your cozy livingroom corner. Nicely tucked chairs with tables and woolen shawls or blankets on every chair for a warm wrap. Nicely done interiors with dim lights, posters and surrounded quiet greenery of Leura makes time come to a standstill.
Coffee: I tried the cappucino (in the photo) along with a muffin. But I was also seeing / hearby nearby tourist's appreciation of their other coffees. The cappucino was outstanding. Extra hot (which went really well with a rainy morning) along with the abundantly sprinkled cocoa powder.
Muffin: The muffin also stood out. Freshly made with raspberry, blueberry, it did not feel too rich and added a good addition to the morning coffee
Other items: While enjoying my coffee and muffin, I noticed their lunch menu and the good range of toasts (especially the tomato and avocado toasts). The pumpkin soup seemed delicious.
Service: The attendants and the barista had amazing sense of hospitality and an ever sticking smile on their faces. I also noticed that they were nice making the coffee and serving the same in the customer's table.
There were many tourists who were also stopping by to pick up their coffee during their day tours of...
Read moreVisited here for brekky. Ordered Tofu scramble w/ extras + a breakfast burrito The environment and service were wonderful. They had crocheted blankets on each of the seats to warm yourself which was just such a lovely little treat But we were both rather disappointed with the food that came out I get that cafe's charge a premium on adding the extras to your meal. We're all used to it by now. But the amount of avocado & hashbrowns received was a bit pathetic. On top of that, the tofu scramble was boring. I've made tofu scramble at home a great many times and there's some things you need to do with the tofu and with whatever else you add to it (ie tomato, spinach etc) that wasn't done here. Which sadly tells me a lack of experience cooking with these foods. The amount of scrambled tofu was lacking, even worse considering they add $3 (maybe $4, I can't recall exactly) changing the eggs for tofu. My partner's egg breakfast burrito was big. Not a complaint. She couldn't eat it all which isn't reflective of the cafe in any way, but the wrap was almost exclusively egg. A bit bland and boring. We thoroughly enjoyed being there. The staff were so so friendly and the mood was lovely. But, going simply off what we ate, the food was...
