I had to edit my review from 3 years ago in response to some unreasonable comments I read pop up recently. Gelato Franco is hands down the best Gelato shop in Sydney.
They have the friendliest staff who are always hospitable and friendly, and they work hard to make simple yet unique flavors of the day to complement their already amazing range of gelatos. Unlike shops like Messina, they understand that jamming as many ingredients as possible into one flavor and having all these flavor collaborations and combinations doesn't result in a good gelato.
There was a comment from one person calling out their Gelato as watery. To that person, I have never had a watery gelato from Gelato Franco, so I don't know what you are talking about as it's not ice cream.
There are also comments from people complaining that they could not taste a sample of the gelato... (it's called infection control?)
We also had an expert negatively critique how they made the pistachio gelato as if they were in the back making it?
Anyways, definitely a shop that's loved by the locals! and I wish them continued success as we navigate through life...

Tiramisu and Strawberry in cone. Matcha and Pistachio in cone.
Tiramisu: Great rich flavour and interesting textures. Generous inclusion of coffee soaked sponge. 5/5
Strawberry: The flavour was so mild I had wondered if there was any strawberry in it. Slightly icy. 1/5
Matcha: Actually quite good intensity matcha flavour for a gelato shop that does not specialise in Eastern flavours. Well balanced with low sweetness, which accentuates the matcha flavour. 4/5
Pistachio: While I appreciate the quantity of pistachio that has been added, the flavour is very mild - not infused with flavour properly. It would taste stronger with a roasted pistachio. Texture of pistachio...

The girl behind the counter has the right skill set to work in customer service, she greets with a smile and presents the gelato to you with pleasure, whilst the opposite can be said about the male behind the counter, he shouldnât be in a front of shop environment, better suited sorting in a warehouse away from people, the bad attitude oozes from his face the moment you walk in, serving up gelato begrudgingly and surly sliding it across the counter without any words spoken. It doesnât go unnoticed his same approach to other customers arriving. A real shame for the gelato creator who puts hard work into...
