My friend and I visited Glacage for the first time to catch up over some brekky. The first thing we noticed (or did not notice) was any signage out the front for the cafe. The cafe is basically tucked behind some apartment buildings, which is fine. But we had no idea where it was. Not sure why they wouldn’t put a sign out the front ?? However, when we found it & walked it, the cafe was beautiful and cosy. Filled with flowers and timber and it had a very rustic winters feel which was lovely.
We ordered coffee first. I ordered a Soy cap, and my friend ordered an almond latte with honey on the side. When they brought mine out, they brought me a Soy Latte, and my friends one was done as an almond Cappucino with honey inside the coffee. We were happy to drink them anyway as they still tasted fine. But that wasn’t what we ordered.
I ordered the Glacage board. I asked for Poached eggs, but when they brought the food out, my eggs were fried. The board tasted average, it was missing something but it was OK. I wouldn’t order it again. My friend ordered the Avo Toast, just as she was taking her last bite, she found a hair in it. We didn’t make a complaint about that, as she has finished it by then. And her food was also very average tasting.
After our meals we shared a berry, fondant & chocolate brownie glass dessert together which was delicious.
Lastly, the table we were sitting at must have had some black paint or some sort of charcoal on it, because I was leaning against it & as I leant back, I noticed that my red jumper had a big black stain from where I was leaning.
All in all, the food was very average, however I must say all of the staff were very friendly. They fixed up my eggs and offered to change our coffees etc when the mistakes were made. I would still go back, perhaps they were just having a ‘bad day’. Next time I will try their lunch menu. Maybe that would be nicer. The cafe definitely has potential, they just need to add more flavours and concentrate on not making mistakes. As I said, the atmosphere was beautiful, cosy and...
Read moreGlacage is a venue that would be aptly described as a “hidden gem”. Minimal signage, and located at the back of a residential block beside a Thai Restaurant, you’d have to know it was there to visit. It was, and is, a very busy place. Therefore, it has a good name to it in the community and surrounds. We can certainly see why. Everything was absolutely on point.
The space is rustic, wooden panelled walls and wooden tables, some with mosaic tiles. Seats are made plush with cushions and the space is decorated with bird cages and bunches upon bunches of flowers. This styling makes it feel homely and comfortable. The space is large, with a few seated spaces, so you could certainly take a group there.
Order at the counter, and you can select from the wide menu or something small (and sweet from the glassed display shelf). The menu is superb and we could have ordered so many things - healthy açai bowls, to eggs benny, brekkie boards, French toast or waffles, it’s a shame we could only fit three things in our bellies!
Glacage has three brekkie boards to choose from: the Glacage, Aussie and Mediterranean. We went for the Mediterranean - a generous service of chorizo, haloumi, mushroom, eggs, olives and more! A healthy brekkie that is certainly possible to share.
Sautéed mushrooms on toasted sourdough, with truffled mayonnaise, steamed asparagus, and crunchy poached eggs, topped with micro herbs. The mayo was divine and we really enjoyed the truffle flavour to the dish. We would 100% order this time and time again.
We also couldn’t go past the strawberry cheesecake waffles for a sweet choice to end the meal. The crunchy waffles were topped with and a granola crumb. A must order for those with a sweet tooth.
Coffee by St Ali Coffee Roaster, fresh juices, smoothies and more, you will find a drink to suit your meal. We went for a coffee and chai which were both lovely blends.
The staff are extremely knowledgeable, friendly and hospitable, and you will feel very welcome here. Add it to your list of places...
Read moreHard to find but worth it. We went on sunday morning around 11am, had to wait about 10 minutes for a table as it was quite busy. Ordered the Aussie Breakfast - a large board of food, good flavours, good value but was luke warm when it was served and the Mushrooms on toast - pretty much a plate of mushrooms on a piece of bread, really rich truffle mayo with yummy crusty crumbed poached eggs. It was way too much mushroom for me but everything tasted good together. Othodox blend flat white was sweet but I enjoyed it and my partner had a single origin flat white which he describes as great and one of the best coffees he has had out west. The decor is cute, loved the plants, flowers, crockery and table/chairs.. I will visit again but at an earlier time! Improvements- The place needs to definitely invest in more obvious signs, a sidewalk sign isn't enough to see where to go especially when you are driving past and walking towards what looks like only an entrance for a thai restaurant is confusing. Bringing the table food out at the same time. I received my coffee before my partner then he received his food a good 5 mins before I did. I noticed this happening at every other table too. Staff were nice (except one girl didn't look like she wanted to be there) but I think there needed to be more staff on the floor during the time we visited. Because it was busy, it felt like the staff were rushing around to clear the tables, take orders, seat people waiting or serve...
