Maybe it was my luck to first check out this place on a rainy Monday, but my first impression was unfortunately a not-so-friendly welcome. Nicely asking the waiter if I could take a seat or order at the counter, the reply I received was an awkward silence. The counter staff was just helpful enough to get me through my first ordering experience. My best guess was that they want to give off a cool burger joint kind of vibe, or that I was a brand new face, or that it was strange for this tiny Asian to fancy a chunky meaty burger.
Anyway, whatever "damage" done by the unenthusiastic service was made up by the food variety and quality. As an avid meat lover, I was pleased just looking through the menu options and the attractive prices. That lamb burger with goats cheese and hummus has got to be among the most satisfying burgers I have ever had. I ordered to takeaway as messiness with burgers is guaranteed and I didn't feel particularly welcome. But fairly speaking, the place has a warm glow to it and based on their promo materials, they try to appear health conscious and caring towards the community, which is always a bonus. Overall, it's a shame my first encounter wasn't a pleasant one to match the great burgers they have to offer. Might come back again when the craving...
Read moreI’ve never actually eaten in the café itself but their takeaway food is top class. Good value and really delicious. Nice variety.
However , they really need to update their in-store ordering system. Only ever been there on Fridays around 6PM for a takeaway and it’s always a challenge. Usually a disorganised confused queue of customers waiting to order.
Every time we have been there we have been “greeted” ( I use that term VERY loosely ) by a person almost ALWAYS wearing a messy food covered black apron and looking and acting like it’s their first day on the job. Not a good look for upfront staff.
Anyway ,looking past that , it’s a good option if you like this kind of food , which we do now and then. Give it a go. Food great , everything else “meh”.
UPDATE: The food is great BUT if you are standing around there waiting for your takeaway order and you are handed it MAKE SURE that you check inside the bag BEFORE you leave the store. You may be handed someone else’s order. Happened to me today.
Didn’t check the bag but AFTER I GOT HOME was someone’s online order, not my in-store order. Took it back , no apology at all . My REAL order , by now , very cold sitting on the counter. Bit...
Read moreAfter having patronised Grill'd since it's inception in Brisbane, last Saturday nights dinner, the 'Garden Goodness' veggie burgers we ate were truly the worst ever taste experience. Firstly, there was a very strange chemically smell emanating from the burger. The veggie pattie tasted horrible. Seems like it has preservatives which stink. Was not cooked well and felt raw and chewy. Not.only the burgers have become consistently smaller, the original taste these Garden Goodness burgers had, it's long gone... Over all the whole experience was horrible leaving us absolutely dissatisfied. It was worse than my last visit to the same Crows Nest branch, when we felt the quality of Grill'd was slipping. Have eaten the same at other Grill'd stores but it's never been this bad. Twice the same experience from the Crows Nest store now. Once bitten, twice shy, thrice a fool. Will never visit Grill'd Crows Nest. Pathetic food killing an iconic Australian Burger chain brand image. Recommend you to see other great food options around. Highly avoidable... Don't ruin your...
