Your bog standard buffet breakfast from a 3-star hotel with the hot food choices being real bacon, sausages, scrambled eggs, mushrooms, tomato, hash brown. There were individual glass jugs for milk for cereals and muesli along with a small selection of yogurt and pastries. The fruit basket is also there but the standout is a cold press juicer allowing you to make your own fresh juices. Seating arrangement was well laid out with plenty of room between tables, natural light shines through a clear perspex roof and with nicely decorated planters hanging from the ceiling and a water wall.
The food is regularly topped up by kitchen staff but there was only 1 guy doing the 2 jobs of manning front counter to the restaurant and clearing out used plates from the tables, so it may take a while for your used plates to be cleared out from the table. The restaurant is open to people not staying at this hotel and is good value for a buffet breakfast as the price of entry is not much more than a toast and coffee at a cafe...
Read moreGreat food, great ambience, and great service
We had the potato wedges which were of a generous size, delicious, and came with plenty of sweet chilli and sour cream. We also had the garlic prawn pizza which was succulent, nice, and again fairly large. We finished off with the penne carbonara which was truly delicious but by this time we were too stuffed to continue. I'd like to give a shout out to the waiter, Victor, who was extremely patient, friendly and helpful. He made sure we were comfortable and had a great evening dining at Gumtree restaurant.
The restaurant is also very nice looking, having just been renovated. It was quite quiet on a Tuesday night, however this allowed us to really soak in the ambience and the water feature, as well as the plants on one side of the wall, which were stunning to look at. Half the tables were underneath a transparent glass ceiling to let in natural light.
Overall, a fantastic experience and I would not hesitate...
Read moreSadly the juicer as well as the coffee machine was broken. I tried to get a hot chocolate from the machine and all I got was soapy water. I tried again but the same thing happened. I asked the staff to check if the machine is full. He just said "it's full" just like that without explanation. Then I said "maybe it's broken" he said "yea it's broken, I told the manager" at this point I didn't care about the machine anymore. The service was so bad. My parents were there with me and it would have been nice if he suggested to make some for us, that's what I would have done. So I asked him if he could do that. I should not have because he just added a spoon of powder to a cup of water. Is this experience even worth the $12.50 I paid? Is it even fair to charge me for a breakfast without juice or a hot drink of my choice? I would encourage people to stay away from this place and cancel their Groupons. An average of four stars for this restaurant...
