So we thought we'd give this place a second chance. We came here about a year ago. Was overpriced, service wasn't great, and the food definitely wasn't worth the money. Second time round last weekend, nothing has changed unfortunately. We came for lunch. 3 people. We ordered a garlic mushrooms entree, full rack of rbs, a burger, and a salad. 3 times we had to ask if they forgot our meals. All 3 times they took 10 mins to find out and tell us they're coming out in 10 minutes. Yes, so that's a bit over an hour that we waited to eat. Finally our mains were served. The ribs were cold, rubbery and tough (we didn't order a thong). Not quite like they should be served... the burger was very ordinary to put it nicely, and the salad had no dressing on it. The garlic mushrooms were delicious. We are not Karens and don't complain so we went with it. The manager came over to apologise for the delay and check if everything was ok. Since he asked, I wasn't going to lie. I politely explained all and said that we were quite upset and disappointed. He offered to bring us fresh meals. I declined because we were by that point over it and weren't willing to wait another 40mins+ further to eat lunch. We'd be looking at dinner by that time.. We ordered via the table qr code electronic menu and paid upfront. Word of advice, DO NOT PAY UP FRONT! Be satisfied first, then gladly pay at the end.The manager sarcastically apologised and said they were very busy with a large table that they priorotised over us. I asked the manager to at the very least refund the ribs for the terrible experience and the fact that those expensive ribs were not worth paying for and we were only eating them because we were starving at that point, he laughed and said no chance. He was quite rude and disrespectful from there on. When we were walking out, a lady approached me and said she had overhead our conversation with the manager and her and her table had also experienced almost the same thing. She was waiting for the manager to come out so she can complain about the excessive wait and cold meals and ask to remove a few meals from her bill which she was going to refuse to pay for. I didn't hang around to see the outcome of that. So, we spent over $200 for not much food that was of poor quality and had a terrible experience and basically ruined our beautiful Sunday's family luch. We definitely will not be going there ever again. The view of the bay from our table was beautiful. These guys don't deserve the privilege of this position and shouldn't be occupying this space. And they think money grows on trees and get offended when you tell them the truth. I don't mind paying for a good quality meal once in a while as long as the service is great and the food is good.... I get better service and food at my local take away shop for...

To be clear this has nothing to do with the food or the service but the way this business conduct itself regarding the issue at hand. We brought our family for a reunion lunch. We spent 350 and found that Bupa reward has 10% off for Hurricane Brighton Le Sands and bought gift card to pay for our meals. To our surprise the management advised that they have stopped accepting gift card that came from Best Restaurant even though nothing on Bupa offer website indicates the offer came from Best Restaurant. We felt extremely misled and deceived that the egift card specifically stating Hurricane Brighton was rejected by Hurricane Brighton. How did it even make sense? The management told us to go back to Best Restaurant to complain as apparently they have stopped the partnership and it wasnt their fault that their restaurant remains listed in the offer, sounds to us a very poor way of treating your customer and protecting your brand. Regardless of what happened between the business and 3rd party, at the end of the day its still the name of your brand that is showing on the offer and its part of running a business to make sure you protect your brand and avoid any negative conotation. They could pursue this separately with Best Restaurant but instead, the customer is the one asked to do the run around resolving the issue with the 3rd party.
In addition, the management is aware of this ongoing issue and if its really thinking about the customer and wanted to mitigate the risk it could have posted a notice in the restaurant that it no longer accept the gift card or advise each table before ordering so customers are being informed upfront, none of these precautions were in place. To the customers this gave impression that the business took advantage of their name being on the offer list and as a result gained incoming customer business that otherwise would have gone with other options but refused to show any good faith. Im certain this is not inline with ACCC guidelines and would like to hear what efforts they have taken to try to take their name down from the list.
This left a very sour taste for us at the end of what was supposed to be a relaxing lunch. It made no sense that we bought gift card specifically intended for this restaurant only to be told it was not accepted and the restaurant took no accountability of failed partnership that inflict financial loss to their customers.
We ended up speding AUD 700 for the lunch, 350 paid to Hurricane Brighton and another 350 paid for Hurricane Brighton gift card that was unusable and left us out of pocket. This review is to make sure no other customer fell to this scam and...
Read moreI think with so many different restaurants out there trying to perfect their "chicken" or "ribs" you can just taste and see how Hurricane's Grill has just reached a point where their food is just commercialized, the ribs and the chicken just get cooked up and thrown a plate and served to the customer with little to know love on the overall quality. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying that their food is disgusting and it shouldn't be eating or I'd never go there again, but their cooks/chef's Need to pay a little more attention to what and how it's being served.
I think I'll start with the positives of this store. The seating and location is quite nice especially when seated near the glass and that warm sun is shining through on a cool breezy day. The staff is lovely and they're serving you with a smile. Very attentive with great working attitude.
The Portion sizes are quite large, if you're going to go there be prepared to enjoy a good sized meal
What we ordered:
Chicken and Pork Ribs. Half Rack Pork Ribs. Two drink's.
Price point: we walked out at about $170.00 give or take a couple of dollars. This does include the "$15.00 Surcharge for Sunday's/public Holidays".. I mean last I checked no law forces the store to trade on Sundays and this is purely off the basis of a money grab full and well knowing that families and groups are getting together so they wouldn't be expected to be running low on customers on these days. But if this $15.00 is translated across to give staff that little bit extra at the end of the shift. Then you have my support. Otherwise it's just another scheming money grab.
Food Quality: here is where I can truly say they're no longer a restaurant looking to focus on quality but rather just push these plates out the kitchen door onto a table.
The Ribs were border line cold in some areas as if they were not cooked long enough. None of the fall off the bone experience you'd expect to see from all those places you've had ribs from or atleast they took pride in.
The chicken, well that was just this chicken fillet beaten flat like it was a burger patty. It was extremely dry and Chewy and that the only thing that made it bearable was the basting on it.
As for the chips that arrived with it. I think much like any place you can't really get it wrong. Although it'd be nice if they offered seasoning with it.
All in all it's an average place but I guess just the location gave it the...
