We held our pre-wedding dinner at I Maccheroni this weekend with 30 people. We first stumbled upon the restaurant on a walk outside of our Bondi bubble to Rose Bay. We had actually already made dinner that night, but when we saw the restaurant, we had to go in and eat. We went back twice after that in person and continue to order on Uber Eats often. We are planning our wedding in Italy and we couldn't think of a better place to hold our celebration dinner. We were thrilled when the restaurant told us we could rent out the entire place for our dinner. Marcello was so accommodating and provided us with pages and pages of options to choose from for our dinner. Nothing was a problem and the chef and his staff worked so hard to make it the most perfect special occasion for us. Chef Marcello even worked with us to create original dishes from the Puglia region where we are getting married. We drank Italian prosecco, wine and beer too. Our friends were absolutely blown away by the restaurant, the food, the ingredients, the service and the entire experience of I Maccheroni. We are still receiving calls, emails and sms messages and everyone is dying to go back again to dine at this restaurant. It is the most authentic Italian food and experience I've had anywhere in my life outside of Italy itself. And revivals some of our favourite restaurants that are actually in Italy. The pasta is homemade, the bread, you literally feel like you are transported to another world when you eat here and our friends felt like they were in Italy for the night. The ingredients are so fresh and the food is truly made with love. My own Italian mother would kill me, but this is some of the best Italian food I’ve had in my life. I would do anything to relive our dinner this week at I Maccheroni and taste all the food again. The service from Marcello’s staff is beyond excellent, they truly look after their customers. We highly recommend I Maccheroni for a simple dinner, a special event, a romantic evening or a take-away night at home. This restaurant will blow you away and is a true gem in Sydney. P.s. we also love the communal style tables, it just adds to the...
Read moreUpdate: Stop stalking your customers on Google Maps. Whoever replied me is so RUDE and this person doesn’t deserve to be in this industry. 1 star out of 5 for everything because there is no option to give 0. It DOES help other customers because no customer deserves to be treated like this after spending over 200 dollars for a meal. BTW, using your same words: being so RUDE to your customers doesn’t help anyone and I REGRET every cent I have spent with your business. If you can’t even take a critic, don’t open the business. As a paying customer, I expect to be treated with respect, but that was far from what I received. The level of unprofessionalism and disrespect I experienced was unacceptable. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and improves their customer service ASAP!
The food was not even average. Entrées were ok, we had Mushroom arancini, I will give this one above average, it was crunchy and creamy, well done and it was the best dish throughout the whole meal. We also had the wagyu skewer, 1 stick, 4 pieces of beef exact. The wagyu was simply plain, doesn’t go with the fancy dressing, the presentation was more than the food itself. Pork ribs was average, if you just have to go there, I would recommend this one. Pasta was a disaster. The portion was tiny, but it doesn’t matter because I didn’t even finish my tiny portion. Dessert was just interesting. Thought the service was good until the owner replied me with only one work “why?”after I gave it 3 stars out of courtesy. I think this is super arrogant because I can have my option for the food on an open platform which supports this function. Ok hope this answers your question. Plus 1 less star from...
Read moreI Maccheroni is an outstanding Italian restaurant that truly exceeded our expectations. I went with a friend and we left extremely satisfied, both with the food and the service.
We started with two entrées: gnocco fritti and arancini. The gnocchi were a complete surprise — light, crispy on the outside, fluffy inside, and full of flavor. Honestly, they are among the best Italian starters I have ever had in a restaurant, if not the best. The arancini were also delicious, perfectly cooked and very tasty, setting the tone for what was to come.
For the main courses, we chose the saffron mafaldine with lamb ragu and the cacio e pepe. The saffron pasta was rich and beautifully balanced with the lamb ragù, a dish that felt both hearty and refined. The cacio e pepe was prepared right at our table by a very friendly and passionate waiter, which added a special touch to the experience. Watching the dish being finished in front of us made it feel unique, and the flavor lived up to the show — creamy, peppery, and absolutely authentic. The presentation of both plates was impeccable, a real 10/10.
To finish the evening, we ordered a tartufo for dessert, which was exquisite and the perfect sweet ending to the meal.
We spent about $60 per person, which might seem a bit on the higher side, but for the quality of the food, the attention to detail, and the warm service, it was completely worth it. Dining here felt like a genuine Italian experience, and we walked out not only full but truly happy with the whole evening.
If you’re looking for authentic, high-quality Italian food in Sydney with excellent service and atmosphere, I Maccheroni is a place I would...
