Ima Sushi — Restaurant in Sydney

Sushi is fine, but it's absolutely ridiculous to have all of it served in plastic containers fastened with an elastic band! I refused it and they pulled out a small, perfectly adequate paper bag like most modern sushi places have. So they have them, but choose to mindlessly offer their rolls in plastic containers instead. Even for single, simple sushi rolls! Literally for most people to transport it 1 metre to the adjacent dining tables. Their big bin is full of unnecessary plastic containers and elastic bands which have been used for all of 10 seconds. It's 2025. It's Westfield Bondi Junction in the Eastern suburbs of Sydney. Bought a 4 pack of inari sushi (pouch with crab or seaweed). Before purchasing, I asked the server 3 times if it had rice in it and she said no. She assured me there was no rice.

Turns out there was mostly rice under the thin layer of crab or seaweed on the top.

I went back and she said she is a new staff member. This is no excuse - if she didn't know, she should've just said that.

Since posting the previous review Ima Sushi appear to have addressed the undercooked rice issue and things have returned to normal and back on the weekly post-shop lunch menu.

I used to be good but lately the rice is never cooked properly. Al denté might be the go with pasta but al denté sushi simply doesn’t cut the wasabi. Time to start...
