(3.5 stars) Lidcombe has a bewildering array of Korean restaurants located in a relatively small, double-sided shopping strip on the south side of the station. With convenient angle parking as well as a multi-storey car park, it’s easy to snaffle a space and take a wander past restaurants separated by grocers stacked with plastic tubs of banchan until a particularly enticing aroma lures you in. Joh-Eun-Nal roughly translates to ‘good day’ in English. I hadn’t particularly had one, but after a short wait for a table, downing bowls of makgeolli ($13) with Kloud beer chasers ($7), helped to return my day to a better path. Banchan—complimentary Korean side dishes—landed almost immediately, and the kimchi here was the standout. It inspired us down a kimchi-centric menu, kicking off with a generous bowl of fried egg-topped kimchi fried rice ($23) and ending with a huge, well-executed kimchi pancake ($20). Seasoned Korean fried chicken ($17/half) was red and sticky, but not quite spicy enough for my liking. I had a similar problem with spicy stir-fried pork ($17) served as a meal-for-one with nicely dressed salad and a mound of white rice. I did however enjoy it more over the remaining kimchi fried rice for lunch the next day: takeaway containers were happily supplied.

Gone here for lunch with my family for the first time. We got our seats very quickly, although the place is a little crowded. The distance between our 4 seaters table to the two seaters next to us is none existence. Despite that the food are great and portion are large for the price. We ordered the seafood and chives pancake, half boneless fried chicken and small size pig's feet. The pancake has lots of chives and seafood and comes with a nice chilly sauce to go with it. The boneless fried chicken is crispy on the outside and tender inside very addictive. The pig's feet is nicely done, the meat is tender and not too dry. For $35 this dish is value for money. I would come back for more with family and friends but not so much a place to go chatting over a meal.

This place has really good service and the food is definitely the star of the show. The food is authentic and it feels like you are eating at a Korean house hold. They have takeaway dishes that are pre-prepared for workers who can’t be bothered cooking on the way home for dinner. The serving portions are large so it’s better to have more people if you would like to get a taste of everything. The pork was so soft and juicy with that sweet sauce was divine. The fried chicken- we got 2 different flavours and they are delicious, you can ask for half and half. The hot pot tasted great as well. The side dishes or buncha was good! Not the biggest selection but it’s got all the essentials such as kimchi and the tofu skin. Would recommend the seafood pancake- yum!

Anytime we feel like fried chicken and Soon Du Bu Jjigae we always come here to get our fill. The fried chicken wings are always juicy and crispy on the outside. It comes with two dipping sauces, a garlic mayo and a sweet chili. You can't go wrong with fried chicken and garlic mayo! #bestcomboever.

We've tasted a lot of Soon Du Bu Jjigae and this is one of our favs. The soup is rich and flavoursome, unlike some other places we've tried where it's watery and bland. However, I also think it comes down to personal preference of how you like your soups.

There's a lot of negative comments about service and price. First off, their service isn't too bad, I've had worse... Secondly, their price is quite relative to the area. Overall, this local joint has been consistent for us over the past 3 years and we wouldn't want to change...

Ordered takeaway, ox bone soup has no ox bone just a few pieces of meat. Seafood pancake is burnt and oily. Prices was not cheap for the soup

Reply to boss: Ox bones is not just bones you should be using the ones with the Ox bone joints with meat and marrow. Do you even know your meat cuts? Your menu is misleading as we were looking forward on the soft meat that is supposed to be on the bones. You've defeated the purpose of it. All we found was 6-7 small pieces of brisket meat which was very disappointing for $18 soup. You are lucky I didn't post a photo of the burnt pancake we received. If we were at the restaurant we would have returned it to the kitchen. We got take away and only knew it when we got home. It was burnt. Well, I guess we were the unlucky customer & definitely won't be ordering...
