I went to this restaurant since its inception until last year. I got different experiences each time. The service and food were inconsistent, some nights good, some night the service was slow even though there were only a few patrons. The food was overall delicious but the chef was not creative and innovative at all and most of the dishes were the same, i.e. mushroom and tofu based. After all a while, one gets sick of the similar food. The overall plating was dull and boring and was not really of the standard of a real fine diner and could be improved. The original older but much better chef left after a few months, then the food deteriorated after the younger chef took over the reign. People are willing to pay for good and unique food. For example the Yellow restaurant in Potts Points is very expensive but the chef is very creative and he can invent and do very tasty dishes using many different varieties of vegetables and Friday and Saturday nights are always full. In general, one can judge the success of a business after 1 year. Initially people flock to new restaurants to try out then people will stop going if the food is not up to scratch, so judge for yourself next time you go there. Some nights I was the only person there even on supposedly busy Friday and Saturday nights. Overall an OK only restaurant but definitely not a...
Read moreWent here with my partner and there are a few things to note. 1) It's all about the food. The yummy, satiating and creative food. We loved the duck pancakes and veg not-fish. 2) if you are looking for a pumping, rowdy place to eat with a few mates, this won't be to your liking. The place is QUIET. You can hear conversations on the next table so you tend to keep your voice down. We went at 6.30 and it was just starting to get busy as we left. If you find regular venues hard to hear people because of ambient noise, you will enjoy this place. 4) It's associated with the Buddhist mission downstairs. There is no alcohol on the menu, but you can BYO. 5) The service is OK. We asked for table water and they only gave a glass to my partner as the person asking. A few little things like that but very courteous and friendly. Do I recommend it? It is no frills in many ways, but with some of the best restaurant vegetarian food I've had. So, yes, go try it if you're looking for...

Allegra Ave...
