I went today for Kabul House restaurant, in the previous time of my visit to the restaurant, to eat the previously grilled meat internally, to pay this matter to the accounting employee. He told me that if you had come to me, I would have brought you a new food . Today on 31/12/2022, I went for a meal, which is around 5:30 in the evening, and that’s for me it is lunch because I work all day until 5:00. So i ordered 2 shish kebabs with tikka, and I confirmed to the employee, i want Green pepper cooked with tomatoes as in the picture and he said yes no problem and when I sat down to wait, there was no knife No fork no spoon so when the bring the food was. No green paper coked and i asked he said he will bring it but he wasn’t and i touch the tomato coked was so cooled i start to eat and it was the same as before the meet tiki its was not coked inside same last time then i asked the waiter :its not cooked he said he will take it and fix the problem and the shocked was the same shish cooked and they bring it back to me and it was touched with my hand and the chef for sure Is this correct ?? and appropriate to be dealing with the customer? In fact, the food in the past was very impressive, but now I hope for the management of the restaurant to find the problem otherwise his business will lose...

This place, let me tell you, the best Afghani food establishment in Sydney. Everytime I've come here, I've never left disappointed or unsatisfied. The staff are constantly walking around ready to assist any customers. The food is inexpensive. The environment is "litt" if I may say so.

We ordered two servings of the Chicken Afghani Palaw and one double serving of the lion lamb chops. The server had already brought us bread and sauces. I set the timer on my phone and we waited. 4 minutes and 30 seconds later.. All our food came sizzling and ready to eat.

The reason why I timed them?

A couple days before our visit. We took some out of town guests to Bahar Afghan and Persian Restaurant (2 doors down) because Kabul House was closed that day. We not only were embarrassed in front of our guests with the service, but also left unsatisfied with our meal and experience. It took them 40 minutes to bring just 2 platters out. And then another 20 minute for the bread and rice. And we didn't even have plates to begin eating.

So overall,

Great job Kabul House. You guys not only satisfied our craving for Afghani food after that disappointment, but also provided the best service and the best Afghani food at an affordable price.

P. S. please don't ever close again......

Too EXPENSIVE. $25 for a small plate of Ashak and $25 for Mantu. Ashak was tasteless and covered with yogurt and some beef mince sauce 🤢. With the cost of living crisis, we are not able to afford to go to a restaurant these days, because they increased food prices but food quality is down to zero 0️⃣. 5 or 6 tiny, flat, almost empty Ashak’s in a small plate covered with yogurt for $25??? 😳 is the money 💰 you are making even Halal? How does it goes down your throat? Because that plate of Ashak that I paid $25 didn’t even fill up my child’s stomach let alone mine. Same with Mantu. By the way, the eggplant 🍆 $20 for few pieces of fried eggplant 🍆 and uncooked capsicum 🫑 on top of it, very tasteless and gross. People work 2 to 3 jobs these days to be able to pay their bills and survive, we don’t want to spend over $200 and leave your restaurant hungry. You are making a lot of money out of this restaurant. At least fill up your food plates after taking peoples money and let them enjoy that food and spend less money and get full with 2 meals instead of ordering several meals but still hungry because the food portions are not enough and are too small and Expensive as it’s...

TL;DL: Delicious Afghan food. The mantu (dumplings) and the Qabuli Palaw (lamb shank rice) are always a must order for me. Been coming here for years and it has always been a delicious and comforting meal and worth the drive out. It can get busy but they have now moved next door to a bigger space. They are very efficient, well staffed and always welcoming. Fave dishes are the Mantu - delicious steamed lamb dumplings with yoghurt sauce and the Qabuli Palaw - lamb shank with rice pilaf. That rice is just so delicious - subtle spices with some sweetness from carrots and raisins. Also love the okra curry and the eggplant dish. The grilled meats are good too but can sometimes be slightly dry (not to worry, there are always condiments at the table - yoghurt sauce and a vinegary chilli sauce). The goat curry is worth a try as well as the chive dumplings and probably anything else on that menu tbh. The bread is also good when it is hot and fresh out the oven.

A first attempt at savoring Afghan cuisine and was quite impressed. Very close to the Indian/South Asian food although there are stark differences in the preparation and plating. Tried the lamb biryani and the kababs and enjoyed them. What I liked the most was that the food wasn't oily and you can get the aromas from the marinades quite distinctly. Lunch time is busy with lots of families and people from varied cultural backgrounds savoring their meals. The menu provides options for the younger generation as well for the traditionlists. Often hard to get the attention of the staff if you need to top up on your order. The imagery and photos on the walls transport you to the country. You can also spot the Afghan Girl made famous by Time magazine. The black tea is soothing. This bustling restaurant is close to Merrylands station so gets a lot of footfalls. Worth a visit.
