I am genuinely surprised about the high reviews as our experience was certainly not worth more than two stars and overall, was disappointing.
Positives - the dips were yum, the set menu was varied and the restaurant vibes were nice. Baklava was delicious!
Negatives: We booked for 17 but the table was set to 15. As the restaurant was booked out, we ended up needing to squeeze in without an additional table added We had notified while booking of our dietaries including 2 nut allergies and 2 vegetarian - one of the staff questioned the nut allergies and accused us of not telling them earlier which was quite rude considering we had communicated all dietaries beforehand. Then some of the staff were not sure which dishes had nuts When the main course came it was all meat. Nothing for the vegetarians until we asked in which they brought a menu out for them to choose from - which of course came out much later We waited over an hour for the dessert to come out.. and it was a piece of baklava with ice cream and pistachio on top. Did I mention the individuals with a nut allergy? No alternatives provided for them. Also, half our party had left by the time the dessert came out, it took that long.
It's really a shame - there is leniency on delays as we are understandably a large group, but these issues are driven by poor management and perhaps lack of staff training / planning. We had communicated the headcount and dietaries beforehand so the least we should expect is knowledge of them - particularly as nut allergies and vegetarian dietaries are quite common! I would...
Read moreWent for Sunday breakfast, 2 people. Opted for the Anatolian Breakfast Board @35pp Just to qualify, Turkish breakfast is a regular treat for us. It sets us up for the day. Have tried most of the places in inner west and surrounds. Always leave full and happy. Kaya was a disappointment. No Turkish tea included and a very limited "board". The selection of cheeses was 2 cheeses, one done with different toppings. Limited amount of Turkish bread, not enough for the sparse food board. We wondered if we had a single board at one point rather than a board for 2. No Turkish sesame bagel and pogaca as the menu stated, not for one person let alone 2, and when I asked the staff where it was I was told they "don't have that" and they gave us extra bread instead. It would have been good to know we weren't getting what we paid for before committing to a $70 breakfast with no drinks that we left feeling hungry from. In summary, don't go here for Turkish breakfast. It's expensive, limited food choices, limited food quantity and you don't get what you paid for as stated on the menu. no idea what the dinner service and food is like but I wouldn't go back for breakfast. Go to Taste of Turkey or Ferah in inner west if you want a good quality Turkish breakfast with plenty of dishes, fresh fruit, variety of cheeses, plenty of bread and Turkish tea included in a similar /cheaper proce range. The atmosphere was blighted by the very sporadic,...
Read moreGreat Turkish restaurant located along the liveliness of Enmore Rd. FOOD: Great selection of truly yummy gluten free food. They also have lots of vegan and vegetarian options which is lovely. From dips, beads, stuffed vegetables, diced meats etc. STAFF: Lovely, attentive, albeit seemingly less used to busyness (I'm assuming staff will get their head around it in time). ACCESSIBILITY: Some (but very limited) paid street parking available. A couple of places out the front, means you could potentially go there with your dog. Wheelchair access through the place and to the bathrooms would prove tricky. OVERALL: Would recommend as is and rave about if you had better gf bread options. Personal note: PLEASE GET GLUTEN FREE TURKISH BREAD, IT'S AVAILABLE EVERYWHERE, DOESN'T COST MUCH, FREEZES REALLY WELL...because I appreciate getting it fresh, may result in throwing it out, if no one gf comes in that day. Charging more for average gf bread feels crazy when a few minutes from your restaurant they sell amazing gluten free wraps, Turkish bread and...
