A Culinary Journey Worth Taking
I've been on a quest for the most authentic and flavorful Indian cuisine, and my search has finally led me to Art of Spices. This isn't just a meal; it's a vibrant, unforgettable journey for the senses. From the moment you step inside, the aromas promise an incredible experience, and the kitchen delivers on that promise with every single dish. We started with the Beetroot Kebab, and it was a revelation. The kebabs were perfectly spiced—crispy on the outside, soft and earthy on the inside, and nothing like I'd ever tasted. It's the kind of dish that makes you reconsider everything you thought you knew about vegetables. The Palak Patta Chaat was another fantastic appetizer. The delicate, crispy fried spinach leaves provided the perfect vessel for a delightful medley of yogurt, chutneys, and spices. It was a beautiful balance of sweet, tangy, and savory, and an absolute must-try.
For the main course, the Chicken Changezi was the star of the show. The chicken was incredibly tender, falling off the bone and swimming in a rich, velvety gravy that was spicy yet deeply comforting. It’s a dish that demands to be savored. We paired it with the Jalfrezi Pulao, a fragrant rice dish that was a masterpiece in itself. Filled with tender vegetables and a subtle spice blend, it complemented the rich chicken perfectly without overpowering it.
Of course, no Indian meal is complete without Butter Naan, and theirs was nothing short of perfection. It was warm, soft, and had that beautiful, slightly charred texture that only a tandoor can provide. Each piece was generously brushed with butter, making it the ideal tool to soak up every last bit of that incredible Chicken Changezi gravy.
In desert we had Gulab jamun which were warm and soft. Extremely good.
This restaurant is a true gem. The food is prepared with passion and precision, showcasing traditional flavors while creating something truly special. If you're looking for an Indian dining experience that will leave a lasting impression, you need to add this to the top...
Read moreI rarely eat out at Indian restaurants, it’s often at the bottom of my list of cuisines as we are spoilt for choice with incredible food options in Sydney. I’ve also been tarnished by below average Indian bay-marie takeaway slop to last a life time. Recently tho I heard whispers about the incredible food at Art of Spices on Enmore Rd, Sydney. It didn’t disappoint. The food was vibrant, alive and zinging with freshness and flavour. We shared vegetarian samosas (a standard fare at any Indian restaurant) but these were anything but standard. The presentation alone was pretty and considered, you knew straight away it wasn’t going to be just an average dish. The flavours were well balanced and delicate, it was food made with care and pride. We shared two mains, the goat curry and butter chicken, both medium spice. The heat was perfect, adding complexity to both dishes without overwhelming. Butter chicken is like the white man’s equivalent of sweet and sour pork in Chinese cuisine, often over sweet and pedestrian. This version was anything but. Complex and flavourful, balanced with spice, and sumptuous. What a pleasant surprise. The goat curry was also a winner, soft meat off the bone and utterly bursting with flavour. We had garlic naan and basmati rice to accompany both dishes. That was plenty of food for two people. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, you knew instantly that they took care and pride with their service and standard of food. We sat near the kitchen so we could observe what was going on. The young staff were focused and clearly enjoying what they were doing. This was a definite win for me, I’ll certainly go back and I’ll be spreading the word. Hope other people have as good an experience as ours.highly recommended. Food...
Read moreWhat's in a name? In the case of this restaurant the answer is a hell of a lot. The restaurant certainly is the art of spices and the chefs are absolute artists. I love Indian food but too often end up having meals that lack flavour and very heavy so you end up walking away feeling bloated and unsatisfied. With the Art of Spices none of this happened, we walked away full without the bloated feeling and with flavours still singing in our mouths. Their use of spices and flavours is incredible, every dish was mouth watering and left you wanting more. There's plenty big name Indian restaurants in Sydney that people seem to rave about and I've probably eaten in all of them and every time walked out the door thinking they were average at best and were well and truly overpriced. Art of Spices easily tops them and is set to become a Sydney institution. The only Indian restaurant in Sydney in same bracket as Art of Spices is Urban Tadka(one of the most awarded Indian restaurants in the country) in Terrey Hills, where coincidentally the head chef and owner has worked as chef. The only thing this restaurant has got wrong is it's pricing which is far too low for the quality on offer, they should be charging much more. We had the scallop stater, 2 mains, a large rice, a garlic naan and a beer and got change from $100!! And if the food and price weren't enough the staff and owners are exceptionally nice people. Trust me and get to this restaurant fast because once the word is out it's going to be hard to get a booking. My wife and I cannot wait to get back here and bring our friends with us. I truly hope this restaurant goes very well in what is a very tough industry at the moment and couldn't wish them...
