We had recent dinner at this promising restaurant near business area of St. Leonards train station. Since this is our first visit, we wanted to try a few items from their extensive menu options. Hence, we chose the $45 / person banquet menu for 2 customers. It included miso soup, edamame and fried soft shell crab with spicy mayo as opener. It also included fish carpaccio and mixed of sushi and sashimi (salmon belly, squid and fatty toro tuna). The main course included some choices like wagyu beef steak and grilled saikyo-yaki miso style cod fish. The desserts were a small scoop of Japanese style green tea and black sesame ice-cream for each person. All dishes prepared with good technique and fresh ingredients. We really love all of them, especially the fresh fishes used in sushi and sashimi and carpaccio. They also used good, marbled wagyu cuts for the steak and great black cod for the grilled miso fish. The place is quite spacious and has good decoration / ambience. The customer services from staff members were great as usual in Japanese establishment. On another visits for Saturday dinner, we ordered their wafu mentaiko pasta and special not on the menu tonkatsu omuraisu with demi-glace sauce. These dishes are common yoshoku or foreign-influenced menu in Japan and they taste very good, and we love the creamy pink pasta and demi-glace sauce on the omelette rice. We also tried their flounder fish tempura and sushi sashimi set and washed with the premium, cold Suntory beer (very recommended). You may pay with credit cards, but the real deal is a 5% discount if you pay cash for meals with minimum $40 spending which we happily applied for our dinners. The only downside is the strict street parking restriction around the restaurant, but after 6pm weekdays or mid-day Saturday should be OK.

Tastes good but very overpriced. I was not expecting that little portion of edamame, miso soup and soft shell crab in a 6 course meal at the cost of $65 per person. From my understanding, a course meal means each of the person would have an individual course rather than sharing a small portion of edamame and one soft shell crab cutting in half. If I order these dishes separately, it might not cost $130 to be honest. But I did enjoy the two mains. Reasonable size and cooked perfectly. It would be a good place to dine in if your serve matches the price. The other thing I’d like to mention is they spent too much time on takeaway orders so really slow with diners. We have waited almost one hour but only received the first 3 dishes. This also needs to be improved. To reply your comment We definitely only had 6 courses (edamame, soup, soft shell crab, assorted sushi/sashimi, main and ice cream) and only one steak was ordered. The other main was salmon. Pls name what 8 courses you mean. We had a $65 three course meal in a French restaurant 2 weeks ago, being served with decent portion of entree, main and dessert and they all tasted good. Also, found one review 2 months ago being served with more than what we got and were only charged $45 per person. Can’t believe you increase the price and cut the fish carpaccio and saying it’s a fair increase! To answer your question See the last 2 images - $30 for 100g A5 wagyu, $26 for 160g less premium wagyu We understand you changed the price due to increase in cost, but that increase compared to what has been served is unpleasant. Add one star as flavourwise it’s pretty nice.

Absolutely pathetic. Waited more than 25mins for the first dish to come out (2 yakitori skewers). Waited another 10 mins before our second order (udon). After chasing the waiters, no indication was provided on how much longer we had to wait. Another 10min later, our third dish came out (sushi sashimi). Another 10min later, our forth dish (5 pieces of nigiri). Waited another 15min and then we FINALLY got our last dish (eel sushi roll) In summary, we waited 75mins in total (after placing our order) before we received everything. Service here is CLEARLY extremely slow with no communication to its customers. They are prioritising takeaway orders instead of actual diners. They also seem to have no idea how to process orders. Table next to us ordered 15mins later than us but got their food earlier ?!?! No explanation, and no apologies for the delayed food. Empty plates are also left on the table, no waiter comes and collect them. In terms of food quality - chicken yakitori - okay, but just. Nothing more. - Pork belly yakitori - dry and tasteless. - Udon - generous meat servings but soup to noodle ratio was way off (more like noodles with a small side of soup) - Sashimi platter - this was okay. But did we really need to wait 45min for this? - Nigiri - same comment as above. But 55min wait!!! - Eel sushi roll - this was pretty much a thick layer of rice with a 1cm avocado in the middle topped with a thin slice of eel on top. The eel was also cold which makes it unpleasant to eat. I’m sorry but over my dead body I’ll be coming back.

On the afternoon of 7/3/2024, at approximately 1:30 PM, I dined at the establishment and opted for the lunch special, priced at $16, Chicken Katsu accompanied by miso soup. Having been a patron on numerous occasions, I have consistently enjoyed the culinary offerings and beverages provided by the establishment. But, upon consuming a portion of the Chicken Katsu, I discovered that a piece was inadequately cooked. I promptly alerted the waiter, who then consulted with the chef, also the proprietor, regarding the matter. The chef personally inspected the allegedly undercooked piece and asserted its thorough preparation, indicating its white appearance as indicative of full cooking. Despite this assurance, I maintained that, in such circumstances, I expected to receive a fully cooked dish, especially considering the extended wait time of over 35 minutes. In response to the chef's offer to waive the charge for the dish, I acquiesced with the understanding that this gesture was not indicative of additional charges. However, I remained adamant that I required a properly prepared meal. Subsequently, after a further wait, the chef prepared a replacement dish. Regrettably, subsequent interactions with the owner were characterized by discourtesy, as he expressed dissatisfaction with my consumption of the majority of the dish before requesting a replacement due to the perceived undercooking of only two pieces of chicken. My concerns regarding food safety were exacerbated by the owner's dismissive demeanor. In light of these circumstances, I have lodged a food safety complaint with SERVICE NSW, and I caution potential diners against patronizing this establishment due to concerns regarding food preparation standards and unprofessional conduct. I am still feeling very disgusting, food and...
