Lakeside Cafe by Chef's- Best Coffee in the town — Restaurant in Sydney

This review has been long overdue, and honestly, I’m a bit embarrassed I haven’t posted it sooner — especially since Lakeside Café is literally just downstairs from where I work, and I come here all the time. But I wanted to write a review that actually reflects how genuinely great this place is. They really deserve the shoutout!

From the moment you walk in, the vibe is just beautiful — the decor is fresh, calming, and modern with warm tones and a welcoming energy. It’s the kind of place that instantly lifts your mood. Whether it’s for a quick takeaway or a sit-down coffee break, it always feels like a happy spot.

The staff are absolute gems — always smiling, always friendly, and they greet us so warmly every single time. Even when it’s busy, they somehow manage to stay upbeat and efficient. You really feel looked after here.

Now let’s talk about the coffee — easily some of the best I’ve had around. Smooth, perfectly made every time. Their food is also top notch — fresh, flavourful, and consistently delicious. Whether it’s breakfast, lunch, or just a snack, I’ve never been disappointed.

Service is always super quick, even during peak times. It’s so well run, and you can tell they care about the customers and take pride in their work.

first time here - thought i liked to try it out this nice sunny morning. Ordered egg benny w/ avo & smoked salmon as well as a t/a coffee. The girl at the counter charged me nearly $50 due to misunderstanding of the order (2 meals were in my order which was supposed to be 1 meal). Anyway I actually quite enjoyed the interaction between her and myself even tho there was a mistake - the fact was that she was apologetic and was super friendly thru out the whole time, I could feel it was from her bottom of heart, such a nice personality on top of that - thats why Im more than happy to give 5 stars because of the service I received from her. The Asian looking lady at coffee machine seemed in charge or more experienced, she talked briefly which was ok and she used the eftpos machine to refund the money (about $23) - the refund money wasnt in the account straight away, so i went back to her asking how long would it take and got a refund receipt upon request. Disappointed at Lakeside Café — Great View, But the Coffee Let Us Down

We visited Lakeside Café recently, drawn in by the beautiful location and cozy setup. Unfortunately, the coffee experience left us thoroughly disappointed.

We ordered a Matcha Latte and a Cappuccino, hoping for a relaxing sip by the water. Instead, we were served what can only be described as two of the worst drinks we've had in a while.

The Matcha tasted chalky and bitter, with none of the smooth, earthy richness you'd expect. It felt like it wasn’t mixed properly, and the flavor was off from the very first sip. The Cappuccino was equally underwhelming — weak, watery, and lacking any real coffee depth. The milk foam wasn’t textured well, and the overall taste was flat. We genuinely wanted to enjoy our time, but unfortunately, both drinks were left unfinished. For a café with such a prime location and aesthetic, the quality of the coffee really needs serious improvement.

Staff were polite, and the service was fine — but great service can’t make up for poor execution on the basics.
