If you are after a steak and beer for lunch, but you don't want to go to a pub and be confronted by the sports bar, then I can highly recommend a lunchtime at Il Lago. They have a very affordable lunch menu as well as a la carte. A scotch fillet with a beer is $22, or perhaps a barramundi with a merlot for the same price, as well as smoked salmon and other dishes. And these are not just some grisly meat that the apprentice chef threw on the frypan -- these steaks are choice cuts, done to perfection. Also don't let the toffee-nosed name of the restaurant put you off. The staff are friendly and courteous and serve you efficiently. The restaurant can cater for moderately size functions, such as a farewell. I go usually once a month on a Friday so may be I'll see you there. Best to park at Norwest Marketown where outside and undercover parking is available. They accept contactless payments like Google Pay, with no surcharge on Visa, Mastercard and Amex. They will also permit bill splitting at the counter to cater for individual payments.

This restaurant is set right in front of Norwest Lake, which makes for a beautiful and peaceful dining atmosphere. For the food, I ordered the truffle honey and whipped buffalo ricotta served with crispbread, as well as a pizza. The entrée was absolutely the highlight of the meal — the creamy ricotta paired perfectly with the sweetness of the truffle honey, and the crispbread added just the right texture. It was a flavour combination I hadn’t come across before, and it completely exceeded my expectations. I would go back just for this dish alone. The pizza, on the other hand, was decent but not as impressive. The toppings were tasty, but the base was on the doughier side and the crust felt slightly undercooked, which took away from the overall texture and finish. All in all, the setting is fantastic and the entrée was truly memorable.

This is our second visit in just a couple of months, and the pizzas continue to be a favourite - something we HAVE to order every time. We started with calamari fritti served with red wine dipping sauce (a must-have for us) and tried the arancini for the first time—it was delicious. For mains the three of us shared three pizzas: the prosciutto e rucola (my personal favorite), pancetta, prawn, olive, and basil AND Italian sausage, potato, and rosemary. All three were fantasti. It was their first day back from their Christmas break, and even though the restaurant was packed and a little short-staffed, the service was efficient and polite. The food quality and consistency were just as amazing as we remembered.

The over all view of the food was average in general. It didn’t taste too amazing but that might just be because of my taste. The service is what made me give this ratings. We had to wait very long for our food to come even though the restaurant wasn’t too busy, if the restaurant was busy I would understand but it wasn’t. Our waitress was the main reason for this rating. The waiter was very rude, disrespectful and not caring. They weren’t happy or in other words making faces when we asked for only two main meals even though there were five of us. They then went on about how and why we are sharing and u can tell that they were trying to say that we are acting poor/broke. When they were putting our plates for us they literally were hitting the plates on the table as they were putting them down and they didn’t put them like right in front of us, they just put them wherever on the table. As we were waiting we saw the same waitress clean a table for some people who just came, they were already sitting down on there seats, when she sprayed the cleaning spray or whatever you call it, they LITERALLY sprayed it in the person as well as they kept spraying it in the “table”. If I was at a restaurant and a waiter/ress sprayed that stuff on me AND technically ruining my clothes I would be very upset. I hope that the waiters or at least the waiter we got would be a bit more respectful and caring and that the wait time for the food will shorten when the...

Wednesday date night went down hill. The service was friendly, nothing to blow your socks off but we were seated, ordered and received our food in a reasonable amount of time. The waitstaff are not very engaging and did not seem to enjoy being there, however, they did do it with a smile on their face.

Started with the garlic bread which is apparently home made which was a nice unexpected touch, well flavored and well cooked.

After some debate I decided on the Diavala Pizza whilst my partner had the prawn mezzelune.

The pizza was dreadful, soggy in the middle and bombarded with what I can only guess was a whole jar of capers including the water, throw on top of that a can of anchovies and what you have an extremely salty, rancid smelling, soggy mess that was inedible.

The pasta was extremely dull, the sauce added no flavor to the dish and the prawn filling tastes like a whole prawn (shell and all) had been put through a meat grinder and then frozen for about a week or so.

Overall I was extremely disappointed with the experience and I hope that word of this gets back to the chef so that he revisits his menu to amend what, at best, can be described as some...
