Today i visited the cafe. I took my wife and niece the experience was not a good one...
i ordered our meals and a round of drinks. My niece ordered and affagado coffee. It came with icecream and a small coffee. She liked it but felt like some milk. A milk shake to be exact .
When i asked the wait staff if it was possible to do a milk shake. Before i could explain a glass of milk with a scoop of ice cream. I got a rude reply saying they didn't have icecream and then the staff left to get a menu and attempted to force a menu back upon me. I felt insulted as we just ordered 2 coffees with icecream
A glass of milk.. and a scoop of ice cream that we would of been happy to pay extra for As we would of ordered off the menu items
But the staff didn't even do the "i will see if we can do that for you" and then the apologies for if the chef says no
Tho This was not the worst thing that happened... my partner was halfway done with her meal when she bit in to a small bit of plastic about a cm and a half long and 3 mls wide The plastic looked like a bit of broken chinese container style plastics maybe from something storing food in the kitchen
I was appalled i showed the wait staff and i asked for nothing. I told my wife to make sure she chews well in case there was more contaminants in the food she was eating
My partner said she was done so i went to pay.
The guy behind the coffee counter went to offer me a discount on my partners food i rudely interrupted him and told them to just charge me the full amount. as I wasn't after a discount
As accidents happen and mistakes happen
Truly i just felt the service was very poor the food was good except the plastic
I felt upset over the service i under stand businesses are doing it tougher then normal
and expected nothing free but felt insulated at how i was offered a discount and how the staff treated us when i tried to order of the menu (nothing difficult).
I felt tho if i showed up in high 9s swanky suit i might of got better service Admittedly i didn't get my beard trimmed or look like one of the happy go lucky gym rats that gave them hi fives and hand shakes
but i was a full paying customer who got bad service.
I don't blame the staff.. i just feel they may not of got adequately trained
Will i go back.? I live in the area I do like the food But i don't like the service..
And i feel the difference between a great resturants and a ok one is the staff
So maybe not anytime soon
Below was an old review i had from this coffee shop
I didn't know when ordering a coffee I had to ask for it to be hot... other wise I would of pick some other coffee shop... for the moment in time i spent here I don't regret... I still hate the fact there mistake didnt get fixed befor the check.
It's expensive for what you get...... the food looks good but has only a little flavor. The coffee make sure you order hot otherwise it comes lukewarm ... would I go back sure but I'm a be alittle more picky when I order based...

The menu plays into our comfort zones without being too over the top. This is good, because you can rely on it’s consistency and invest without taking too much risk.
Our meal today focused on their signatures:
CRUNCHY POTATO ROSTI (with smoked salmon, also available with smokehouse bacon FYI, roasted cherry tomato, feta, spinach and poached egg). Subtle enhancements to the hollandaise sauce with Saffron and a crumbling of crushed pistacchio are a welcome touch that revitalises predictability in this dish.
CONFIT PORK BELLY: (Beetroot puree, avocado salsa, roasted cherry tomato, radish pickles, poached eggs, orange sauce and toast). Interesting play on a number of technique and flavors here.
MATCHA HOTCAKES: Don’t hate, but I was pretty immune to the matcha craze with the fashionable on-trend regurgitations of lattes, cupcakes, donuts, sauces, crumbles and what not, but I really enjoyed these and could not get enough. The matcha flavor is subtle allowing the mascarpone cream and fresh fruit to have their moments and it’s all brought together with the coconut espresso syrup. Amazing amazing dish and amazing signature.
There’s a choice of indoor and outdoor tables, wait times were exceptionally fast and perfect for the restrictive lunch hour. Each dish deserving of a gasp as they were brought to the table by the friendly and attentive service attendants. Great standout in the Surry...
Read moreI’d heard great things about this place for brunch, but had held off visiting after a disastrous first visit for takeaway coffees (chai for me) which took forever only for me to take one sip of my chai, spit it right back out and proceed to toss out my whole cup en route to Central Station. Places that are great at coffee are not good at chai. You can’t have it all…
Nearly a year later…I’m glad we gave Le Monde a second chance. It’s a cozy little spot with super friendly baristas and a lovely waitstaff. The food was good. I had the Brekky Board which consisted of Boiled Eggs & Soldiers (little slivers of toast that you dip into the eggs) and fresh fruit with yoghurt and muesli. McKay had the Chorizo Omelet special.
Bottom Line: Good food. Again, though, it doesn’t beat the likes of neighbouring brunch spot favourites Robocog and Bruschetteria 102. Wouldn’t be upset about eating here again, but not the best...
