What a terrible experience.
Had lunch at this venue on sunday with my wife.
Bit of debacle ordered drinks.
When it came time to order food i ordered the 150g steak for $34 dollars. The barman asked how i wanted it cooked and if i wanted chips and salad or vegies. I said medium rare and chips and salad.
When i got the bill i noticed that they'd charged me and extra $10 for. I did query this with the upstairs bar staff, one of them rolled his eyes, the other mocked my hearing (yes i have a partial deafness, sorry about that). Ok great..
Not really that into being mocked by bar staff so decided to move down to the bottom level.
The food comes, my steak and chips very very average, and even at 150grams i didn't bother finishing it.
My wife's beef roast was terrible, and the meat was inedible. She's pretty certain it wasn' the first or even the second time that beef was cooked that day.
She hardly touched the meal.
A female staff member on the bottom level (who was lovely btw) eventually came and cleared our almost full plates. She asked why we'd hardly touched our meals and we explained. She said 'thats not good at all, i'll go and speak with the manager'. I told her that wasn't necessary. She said that she was still going to alert the manager as this 'wasn't good enough'.
She came back fifteen minutes later and said 'bobby the manger is too busy and doesn't want to speak you'.
We'd not asked to speak to the manager, but could to know Bobby really couldn't be bothered dealing with customers on a Sunday.
Between the sneaky pricing, the inedible food, the barman mocking my hearing, and the lazy manager who didn't want to get up from his nap, I'd really give this place a pass.
We did pop up the the Forresters afterwards. Not cheap either but food and drink fantastic and the staff actually smile at you....
Read moreWe have been going to keg and brew for a while now (since pre covid) mostly for the wednesday trivia. however this tradition is now coming to an end. not only because of the unreasonable inflated prices (15$ for a house cider on tap.?? come on) but the last experience involving some mould in my food and the response from customer service in regards to that was the last straw. let me elaborate on a few more details on that event. when you serve avocado on a dish. you do not include the top bit where the avocado connected to the original plant. it does not look good and often includes bit of mould because it actually interfaces to the outside and collect dirt and spores from other stuff in the environment and fridge. in my dish that was prices around 30$ it was included. and yes. there was mould. blue and green fluffy patches of mould. looking back i wish i would have taken a picture so i could reported it to a food safety inspector. but what just blew me away was the response from the middle manger who was managing and overseeing all food coming out of the kitchen. i showed him the avocado and the mould on it. instead of apologising and offering to replace it. He proceed to justify why it was perfectly fine to eat and serve on a dish. in a manner that i would describe as the worst customer service i have observed so far. eventually he agree to replace affected piece avocado. and replaced it. with probably half the quantity that it original was. luckily without mould. as you can probably read from my comment, this whole experience has me left quite saddened about what the standard of customer service has sunk to. but this level is astonishing. good by keg and brew. i hope you dont end up killing any of your...
Read moreThe pub has some great sporting memorabilia and the ground floor bar has plenty of taps. The non-local bar maid had no idea about the taps or where to find dark beer amongst them. And when I asked about how many levels she said two- but it has four!, which became important.
I know that it has four levels because we ordered our food on the rooftop Terrace on level four and were given a buzzer to collect the food on level one . When the buzzer went off, I had to go down to level one to collect the food .
With a heavy China plate in both hands, the girl said the plate might be hot but she didn’t mention that there was no cutlery, condiments or serviettes on level four, where we ordered the food. When I asked the staff, I was amazed that I was instructed to go down to level one to get a knife and fork . I started eating my fish and chips with my hands but one of the staff found a cutlery pack, to rescue the situation.. (if you don’t let the staff know there is a problem. They think everything is alright. Just don’t blame the staff when you tell them the problem.)
The fish was a good serve, but the chips were the low end Commercial...
