Shutters — Restaurant in Sydney

Went for dinner on a Friday night. When we got there at 6pm it was empty. Originally we booked for a table of 6 but then had to change to 4. Waitress seemed annoyed and was looking around at other tables on where to sit us- place was legit empty.. Anyway sat down ordered drinks, entrees, mains. I ordered an entree meal for my main meal.. it came out about 15 minutes later on its own. It was calamari- super oily and warm.. After 20 minutes we asked where the other entrees were to be told yes they are coming ( in a rude tone). We explained we had a concert to attend could she find out how long. She said no. I cant ask the chef for times like that, passively agressively smiling... after a few exchanges we decided to leave. On the way out i spoke to the manager who dismissive and cold.. not paying for drinks and 1 entree was no constilation for no dinner and rude service, esp on a friday night before...

It was our second visit for a weekend lunch. We'd been 2 years ago and enjoyed it. Tucked around the back of the Crowne Plaza's lobby bar to make use of the Coogee Beach vistas. The lunch setup is bright, airy, and tasteful.

We discovered that Shutters is predominantly set up for hotel breakfast (and dinner?). The lunch menu is limited to the small bar menu unless you make a reservation. This gives you access to their slightly larger menu.

The service was rather slow to start. The waitress even tried to take our order without giving us menus and drinks were brought out one- by- one rather than all together for our table of 4. That being said, the food quality is fantastic; simple and honest flavours that can be accompanied by a limited and decent wine list. You definitely get the vibe that weekend lunch isn't Shutter's main gig, but it's a lovely and uncrowded...

The restaurant has a nice clean decor. It is part of the hotel Crowne.

The view of the ocean is great. We ordered the medium rare steak and grilled fish. The steak was cooked to medium rare, which was great. It was served with fries and a salad. The default sauce was flavoured well.

The grilled fish was average. Service was quick and friendly.

I would have move to 4 stars if all meals were at the same quality.
