The baked goods are great. But at the cafe service isn’t great. Some staff will serve people that came in after you just cos they’re more known.
Due to no real waiting in line to order system in place, people will also obviously push in-front esp if they are wanting to pay for their meals. I’ve seen this happen to others as well as it happening to myself and staff don’t say a thing.
When I first moved here a year ago and my parents were visiting from the UK, we opted to come here for lunch. The adjacent table to us had one person saying how disappointing their burger was. I was wary but decided to stay as we were hungry and didn’t know much of what’s available around. I got the same burger and can confirm how bad it was. Mum had the salad which had like 2 tiny bits of dry chicken breast and had barely any dressing.
Honestly so far it’s the only place I found a good coffee here until…
I got given a wrong coffee a couple weeks back and no it wasn’t busy at all. The coffee was weak and contained full fat milk (I’m lactose intolerant and ordered a double shot almond milk). As the temp was too hot to try until I left, it was too late to head back in. I reached out on Facebook messenger to mention what happened and that staff should be more mindful when it comes to such things as allergies etc. I was left on read… no response and I apology.
You’ve now lost a loyal local customer that would visit at least 3-4 times a week, because you couldn’t even say sorry or hey come back and well replace it for you next time.
Go to the bakery, majority of staff there are...
Read moreWorking on a Sunday can be rough. As we get older, we don't bounce back like we used to. And customers - oh the dreaded customers - can just be such a drag can't they? See, the thing someone needs to remind the dark haired, middle aged front of house waiter is that you've still got to - at least vaguely - pretend to be hospitable when you work in hospo.
The frankly bizarre level of rudeness and contempt shown to us by said waiter when we sat down at an empty table - not realising there was a list for tables - was completely out of line when we immediately apologised, got up, and happily prepared to wait our turn. He then seated is next to the disgusting and oddly refrigerant-smelling bin room. After the third time we kindly to be moved to somewhere that didn't reek of trash and musty old fridge we didn't bother with food, downed our coffees and left.
I wish I could split this review and give five stars to the wonderful, kind and professional younger staff who were working to try and help us find a solution. Perhaps it's time for one of them to get a promotion to...
Read moreA well run cafe which has been around for decades ever since we lived in the area eons ago. It used to be opposite where it is now and has had a quite recent cosmetic makeover. Worry not, it still runs like a well oiled machine, is kid friendly (hence its popularity w momsies dropping kids off to nearby schools), is dog friendly and has staffs who know what their regs usually order. It still stocks the same gelato pastries muffins healthy baguettes n sandwiches. Needless to say, it is usually packed though it should not deter you to visit them as they are one of the more efficient joints. Chuck that up to good management front n back w an enthusiastic team to boot.
A recent revisit had me order the truffle oil scrambled eggs w mushrooms n pecorino cheese on toasted sourdough. A request for a scalding hot double macc was followed through. I couldnt resist snatching prosciutto egg brioche n schnitzy baguette on my way out. At $7.50 wouldnt you say they...
