Note - This review is for The Greens North Sydney (sorry)
Recently moved to the area and have my parents visiting from the uk. Decided to pop in for food and join up as a local place to hang at times. I’ve noticed a few things others have left on here such as sometimes comment staff around and there’s dirty plates left at tables etc. it’s not a fine dining restaurant where’s tables are constantly serviced, but yes maybe do the rounds a bit more to check. 2nd visit places an order on a fairy quiet night. Did a second order for drinks (non alcoholic). They didn’t show up so I politely checked in. These were missed as on another screen which were not attended to which is totally fine. Drinks were sorted asap along with a kind apology. It happens but the staff were absolutely amazing and went out their way to do this and to be sincere about it. 3rd visit we did lawn bowls (first time for us all) Sanjay? (Sorry sitting in sun with headache). He set up for us, taught us how to do it all etc and again was super friendly and helpful. He even did a superb first bowl too!!
Place is nice, have seen when it’s full and can seem rowdy and have a few big mouths.
Food is edible too! No issues on both times. Again not amazing gourmet 5* Michelin but no one said it was. I think those leaving bad reviews need to chill a little and if you want super fancy stuff go to one of those places.
What makes this place even better is PET FRIENDLY!! Again well looked after each time and keep your dogs on a leash. People have come and don’t do this and this is what messes it up for dog owners that can’t go anywhere with their pets cos you can’t follow a simple instruction. Again Sanjay went above and beyond and popped out with some ice cold water for us.
Total legends in this place, even the best place makes mistakes. But this is def a winner in the area and...
Read moreWhat a terrible Sunday morning I had with my three-year-old at Norths Cammeray. We left in tears. We attended their annual non-animal circus for kids, which I had been invited to through a charity association as a single mother in a vulnerable situation. It seemed like a great opportunity for my son to have some fun after everything we've been through. However, the experience turned out to be horrible.
When we arrived, I learned that the event was actually a marketing gimmick. We weren't allowed entry without a paid membership, despite the invitation. Matthew, the manager, claimed it was "the law," while Peter and the other entry staff smiled at my crying child and me. It felt like a cruel joke.
Matthew told me it was only a couple of dollars to become a member and asked if I had the money. Considering the tickets were sent to a very vulnerable community, it was an insensitive question. I didn’t have the money on me at that moment, hoping he would offer a solution. Instead, he reiterated that only members could access the premises.
Inviting non-members to a kids' event only to pressure them into membership is not just wrong, it's exploitative. I refused to become a member. It wasn’t just about the money; I didn't want to be part of a community that treated us so poorly. So, I left with my son crying in frustration. I will never forget this disgusting Sunday morning.
As a marketing expert, I can assure you there are better ways to gain members without resorting to such appalling tactics. I am writing this review in the hope that it reaches people who won't allow this to happen to...
Read moreChristmas Day debacle. We booked lunch for seven on Christmas Day with the website making it clear that the sitting would be from 12 midday to 3pm. The problems started when we arrived. There was only one person at the sign-in desk and so it took 15 minutes to get in. After being shown to our table, we went to buy drinks at the bar. There were so few staff that the queue was close to twenty deep.
Next, the entree did not arrive until 1.30pm with the main course being served at 2.50 pm. Some of our party had another commitment and had to leave before 3.30pm-with no sign of dessert. At 3.40pm, we found a waitress and asked her to bring our dessert in a “doggy bag.” We were running out of patience! It was only after the dessert arrived that we realised that it was almost all pavlova with no panacotta plum pudding- something that had particularly attracted us to the menu when we decided to make the booking. We tried to find a waiter or waitress to ask for the panacotta but without any success. We cut our losses and left at that point.
Turning to the food, the butter that was on the table with the bread was sour and off, the two roast pork and vegetable meals were cold by the time they were served and as for the panacotta plum pudding- well, we can’t comment as we did not get any!
All in all at $800 plus including drinks, Norths was a disgrace, never to be revisited by our family. The restaurant had obviously tried to boost profit by maximising the number of diners and minimising the number of staff. Clearly, the number of meals far exceeded the kitchen’s...
