I haven't been back here for one to two years as I had felt that the portion was not worth the price in the past. Decided to give this place another chance because the restaurant I wanted to go to was closed. The service provided was prompt and very friendly. I had one of the ramen combos. When the food came I was disappointed to see that the sushi was still very tiny portions compared to sushi sizes else where. However the ramen bowl looked great. The broth tasted nice, and the ramen was cooked to my liking. However the egg was slightly overcooked. The chashu looked amazing and the char on it was perfect, however this was also overcooked and the texture was a bit on the tough side. Also interesting was the addition of shiitake mushroom, which sort of overpowered the rest of the flavours, would have preferred if they'd not included that and put more of the other veggies or replaced with woodear or something else that was not so overpowering. The portion of the ramen was decent. Overall, service was good but the food wasn't the best Japanese I've had.

Ive got to say, this has to be one of the best Japanese restraunts in the Western Suburbs. The food here is amazing, espically the Ramen, i had the Tonkotsu Cha Shu Ramen and it has become my absolute favourite! I am a big Ramen eater and i got to say that the ramen here is very high quality. The rest of the food is all freshly made, cooked with perfection and care. The staff are always on the move and consistently taking care of customers giving a happy vibe with great service. The vibe of the place appears very classy with fancy lighting giving a warm welcoming feeling. The pricing is a little above the average, so if you are going to eat big expect to pay abit of $$$ but i can say that the pricing is very much worth it! Editing the review 6yrs later. 6yrs later, still amazing 👏 one of the best in the western Suburbs, great work to the team here 👍

Freah and tasty Japanese food. The sashimi and sushi dishes are on the pricey side, so I would recommend to stick to their other dishes (ramen/udon, and rice dishes). Fresh and delicious with plenty of choices and variety of dishes to choose from. It is a big disappointment that they don't have unagi (grilled eel). I do love their udon. Oh my goodness. Yummy with a capital Y. The broth was hearty, full-bodied and well-rounded taste. Great as a winter warmer. Staff are very friendly and efficient. What I find a little mystifying is the server didn't know what 𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘮𝘢𝘪𝘤𝘩𝘢 is (roasted rice green tea), which is served in all Japanese restaurants.

I often eat at MakiMoto and usually their food never disappoints. Their food are packed with flavour, their ramen broths are thick and have the perfect balance of saltiness, their sushi rolls are just delish. However, I am a huge fan of Yakiniku and I was highly disappointed with MakiMoto’s version. The sauce was the classic umami packed but a bit watery. The meat on the other hand? The star of the show was rubbery, chewy and just plain bad. I had to spit out most of the meat because it would just not go down. The vegetables were chef’s kiss and absolutely delicious with the exception of the mushrooms. The mushrooms tasted off and was hard to stomach.

That being said, I still recommend this restaurant for its other meals. Their ramens are some of the best in the area and I am a big fan of their frappes, though there are only two. I hope MakiMoto fixes this meat issue especially with it being...
