I went here last night with my wife and safe to say we won't be returning anytime soon.
The positive: The food. The foods was all great, the meat we ordered was all high quality and the wagyu melted in our mouths. Most of the side dishes were tasty and even other dishes like the Okonomiyaki pancake was delicious.
The negative: The service. Don't get me wrong, our server was fine. Nothing was incorrect and he served us with a smile, HOWEVER, they are VERY understaffed. They had, from what I can tell, 2 people working. Our server front of house, and 1 person at the back of house.
Being that understaffed came with a plethora of issues. Firstly waiting time. From the several minutes to be seated, to the over 10 minutes to take our order, to the over 30 minutes before we saw anything touch our table, to waiting for someone to let me pay them for the bill.
Not only was there a wait but the food came out in a very weird order. Firstly we got our side dishes for KBBQ, followed by the charcoal for the grill and then the meat, which isn't too weird. However, this was then followed by our drinks and fried chicken about 10 minutes later. Another 10 minutes later they brought out more meat. The worst part was maybe 3/4 into eating the BBQ they brought the other dishes we ordered, which we expected to come out first and lastly they brought out our rice, which I ordered to go with our meat... which had already been 90% eaten.
Being understaffed also meant that no one was around to clear tables. The table next to us finished about 20 minutes after we sat and their table was not cleared the whole time we sat. This meant we had to sit next to a dirty table our whole night. If this was a cheap little takeaway shop, or a food court, I wouldn't care. But we spent over $200 for this meal.
The price. The sets that they offer give enough food to keep you full, but if you are wanting to add any extra meat, prepare to pay. Extra cuts of wagyu at a price over around $50 is crazy. Considering if we went into the city we could have paid the same amount we paid for dinner for AYCE for the same quality of meat, or even stayed local and had AYCE at places that don't have as well quality meat, but only paid close to half what we did last night.
Overall, I know I won't be back anytime soon. If I feel like KBBQ, I'll go to one of the mentioned AYCE places. They at least have a buffet or iPad to order off to make it easier to get food and service and are cheaper. If I had to give feedback, I'd recommend this restaurant take on an iPad or phone ordering system if they're going to have one person running front of house to elevate some...
Read moreTotally overpriced and underwhelming. We had the $96 couple platter & then ordered a vegetable platter which cost a further $20. For the $96 all we got was just 3 thin slices of pork belly aprox 1/4 cm thick & one even thinner horizontally sliced ( what was supposed to be scotch fillet, but looked more like rump, as it was larger than scotch fillet, but the size of a small piece of rump, just over the size of an average sandwich, roughly) meat. Besides the 4 tiny pieces of meat , we got 8 ( i think) dumplings & then only one small bowl of rice we had to order another, (strange as it was a couples platter)? Then the rest of the 6 or so bowls they bought out were condiments and sauces, if we hadn't ordered a plate of veggies, which wasn't much but better than the $96 platter, we would have had 1.5 pieces of thin pork, 4 dumplings, 1/2 a v small bowl of rice, half basically a minute steak each & sauce for almost $100. It cost us $70 per head including the extra bowl of rice & we left there starving & felt really ripped off. The service was good & what little food we had was tasty but just ridiculously small portions. You would need to spend $100 each to have a light meal. Someone mentioned the pork soup earlier, yep it was mainly cabbage, no pork & only one serve with the couple platter, didn't make sense, how do you share a soup & a tiny bowl of rice. We left there starving, having paid a premium price & went & had something to eat...
Read moreCustomer service terrible and extremely unorganised and chaotic. We had a party of 12 people for my mums birthday and personally went in and made the booking many days beforehand. They wrote down the booking. We turned up on the night and waiting ages to be seen. We were ignored for ages before we had to pull up one of the staff members as it was becoming a joke that they were constantly walking past us and not acknowledging us. Finally got seen and it was now 10 mins passed our booking time. Tried to make us feel like we didn't have a booking until we told him it was HIM who made the booking. He then proceeded to find a table which was not reserved for us and was told we had to wait another 30 mins for a table as people were still eating even though they had been there for ages already. There are no time limits set for eating times. In that time they chucked us in a corner with only 2 grills for 12 people. It was uncomfortable and only a tiny table in between the 2 other tables. We had no room for all our foods. They didn't explain how the menu worked as we hadn't been before. After the total inconvenience caused to us all, no discount was given or apology. Food was nice but overpriced. Other places were more comfortable and cheaper to eat at and way more organised. It was pointless to make a booking. Won't be going back to...
