Read moreThe first time that I came here was for my friend's birthday, the pizzas were amazing, the waiters really helped to accommodate our wishes and also our BYO requests. This really made me want to come back, so I ended up returning for dinner with one friend a few weeks later. For some odd reason, the chef who greeted us when we walked in seemed to have a really big problem with us not having a booking, even though there was at least half of the tables empty. As the waitress was leading us towards a table, he interrupted with, "Do you have a booking?" We said no and he seemed really miffed, sighing and tutting and just making it quite awkward for us when the waitress continued to sit us down. We ordered a pizza and pasta to share between two, and when the pizza came, the bottom was so incredibly burnt that we had to rip pieces off because they were so blackened. The centre of the pizza was sloppy, soggy and pretty disgusting. I'm wondering if it had a connection with us not making a booking, but I really didn't think that was a problem seeing as the restaurant was not full? The pasta was pretty good but I couldn't forgive the quality of the pizza especially considering the price. It really made me so disappointed because the first time I went it was really a great experience, but the second time has meant I haven't returned since. I would recommend Millennium Pizza instead for when you're...
Read moreFood - 5/5 - I have been living in Sydney for 9 years and this by far is the best Fettucine Boscialoa I have eaten. It is so creamy and thick! I have been hunting this type of Bosciala down for years and finally found it! We live in Bondi where there are restaurants galore, but honestly the Italian food doesn't stack up. The food at Mangia E Bevi is simply outstanding! We also had hawiian and prosciutto pizzas where great as well. This will now be a regular for us, and a great alternative to typical Bondi. I have already recommended it to a few of my friends.
The only reason it gets 4 stars overall instead of 5, the waitresses although not rude in anyway sat us at a table without offering us a drink and just walked away. We then had to ask them to come back over to get a beer, a wine, and water. With the water I know the 2 seater tables are small, but if they had left a bottle for us, or asked us if we wanted more water/drinks during the course of the meal that would have helped alot because at times we needed water but felt it was a bit of a hassle to keep asking for a refill (water glasses are small). Anyway just a thought, apart from this the food was...
