We would like to say a HUGE thank you to Jacob and the event team for making our day so special. We celebrated our wedding on cockatoo island and Jacob and the team here were amazing. After a over extended engagement and having a change of event planners midway through Jacob really made it so easy and stress free. We moved our dates and decided to organise it within 2months. He was really understanding and quick at responding, answered any questions and was so helpful with the whole process even if it was just listening to me ramble on trying to figure out what I wanted.
They organised our whole wedding from the ceremony to the reception. They we’re really accomodating to our requests. Due to covid we changed from a 80+ guests list to a small intimate occasion with 30 guests. He was so helpful and took all the stress off me. On the day he was there early and they pretty much set the whole reception and ceremony up for us. They took all our visions and made it more than special. Also get the grazing table. I don’t think I’ve ever had so many compliments on something before. Everyone was talking about it the next day lol
Jacob we just really want to thank you for everything. We had so many compliments on our wedding and it is thanks to you. It felt like we had a friend running it and that our vision was as important to you as it was to us. I seriously can’t express enough how much we appreciated you. Thank you to Chloe for being our driver and to everyone else for all our work into making it our special day. Your service on the night was great and our guests all really enjoyed themselves.
We would highly recommend marina bar and cafe for your next event and highly recommend doing your wedding on cockatoo island. It was such a beautiful day and our photos look amazing with that...
Read moreFor a place with absolutely stunning location, this was one of the most disappointing experiences of hospitality I can recall. We had had some snacks, coffees late afternoon. It wasn’t particularly busy, but there was only one lady in the main cafe-van, taking orders, making coffee, serving toasties… obviously struggling and seemingly unsupported by the few other staff in the kitchen/bar containers. Food drinks were ok, but service kinda strained/scrappy.
Signage indicated last drinks would be served 30 mins before closing, so I deliberately went to the bar at least 10mins before that. No-one there. I vascillated between the bar and the cafe kiosk, hoping someone would return to the bar, and not really wanting disturb the lady at the cafe who was struggling to serve final coffees, ice creams etc to big family groups. The at 4:27 I mustered up the courage to ask if I could have a beer, (5 or 6 other people were in the same situation, wandering to the bar, only to find no-one came), and she said she couldn’t, they’d stopped serving. I pointed out the time, not yet 4:30, and that I and others had been waiting patiently at the bar a lot longer. Sheepishly, but steadfastly she still refused, said something about the management instructions, precedent or something. And that there was a function on at the top of the island, attendees at that even would be served alcohol, but we could not be served now.
I’m frankly appalled that such an incredible cafe/bar location is neglected by the events management company that runs it. They obviously make bank on the fancy functions, and consider the public cafe a community service. Wasted opportunity in an amazing location. I hope the license goes to some real hospitality...
Read moreWhile a great place to sit and relax, the food is absolutely vile. The nuggets and chips looked and tasted like they had been recooked several times, while the nachos were burnt on one side and uncooked on the other (and were missing the beans promised on the menu). The salsa also tasted off, the sour cream was clumpy and the “guac” was the squeezey, watery kind from a packet. We also ordered a wrap that came about 15 mins before the rest of our food (but was fairly decent). All up over 50 bucks and worth about 15. Take a packed lunch and save your money for a bottle of wine. 🤣
Response to owner: While I thank you for acknowledging the fact my “famous” (did you mean to write infamous?) nachos came sans beans, I have to admit I was relieved as the last thing food related diarrhoea needs is added fibre. Additionally - I’ve noticed quite a few passive aggressive replies to negative feedback re: your food, instead of acknowledgment and improvement. I’ve even noticed a trend of you actively encouraging people to bring picnics. Therefore, the only logical conclusion I can come to is that Yogi Bear has hacked the actual Cafe’s account and is using this as a platform to...
