Maw Maw — Restaurant in Sydney

We came here for dinner and ordered the satay chicken (entree), red duck and massaman beef curries. The satay chicken was good (sauce was 11/10) but a bit dry, I believe it was a bit overcooked. The red duck curry was perfect, but order it if you can handle a bit of heat (it’s a little spicy). For the massaman beef, the potatoes were slightly undercooked. My partner also thought the massaman beef curry sauce was quite bland (personally I was OK with it). However, the beef was cooked to literal perfection so overall the dish was pretty good.

In my opinion, despite some flaws, I’m pretty happy with my experience here! Service staff were very friendly and the portion sizes are quite large (we had to takeaway both the curries. Went as part of a group of 6 on a Friday night. Restaurant was busy and there seemed to be quite a lot of takeaway meals going out aswell. Having said that we had to ask for table water after about 30 mins of no-one coming towards our table to take drink orders. We then placed our order of entrees and mains and somehow 5 of the 6 mains came out before any entrees did. The 3 shared entrees then came out sporadically over the next 15 minutes or so, and the 6th main another 15 mins later after asking where it was. The food was quite tasty but the service was a bit lacking. Was quite noisy inside aswell as there's an open kitchen area close to dining tables. There are tables outside which would have been a better option...

We recently celebrated a birthday dinner here for 20 ppl. They accommodated us inside alone, no other diners which made it more intimate & less crowded. The phenomenal service, the quality & presentation of the food, the friendly service, food & plenty of it from a set menu was over & beyond our expectation. Communication throughout the organisation was so easy & stress free. They catered without a problem for a gluten/dairy intolerant guest which she appreciated & enjoyed. The staff all work together to deliver a 5 star service backed with quality food. The Thai Restaurant to go to from now on. We'll be back many times from hereon.
