Me and a group of six other people dined at Maybe Frank in early Summer. We booked for eight people a month in advance for 7pm. Only seven people were able to attend (last minute cancellation).
We arrived at 7pm. We waited for 25 MINUTES before our table was ready. I totally understand that it was a Wednesday, and hence it was ‘all you can eat pizza’, but if people can’t clear out in the time slot allocated (we assumed it was 1.5hrs), I would suggest that Maybe Frank should extend their time slots to two hours. There were three other groups of people waiting for their tables too, so it wasn’t just the case with our group. If I wanted a booking for 7:25pm, I would’ve booked for 7:25pm, but we booked for 7pm, so we expected a table would be ready at 7pm! Staff also weren’t doing a great job at trying to usher the table before us out of the restaurant, and they also weren’t keeping us in the loop as to how long we were expected to wait.
Once we sat down, service was great and our waiter was lovely. The pizza was top notch! Vibes were good and their all you can eat pizza was very reasonably priced, especially with their $10 negronis and spritz.
However, when our group went to pay, the bald man (maybe Frank?) commented on the fact we had seven people at our table but eight seats. Turns out they were going to charge us for eight people!!! He said “next time, call us beforehand to tell us you only have seven people coming.” How about you call us beforehand and let us know there’s a 25-minute delay?! Fortunately, he didn’t charge us for the invisible eighth guest, but seriously after a 25-minute delay, I think it’s the least he could do! Even if they were on time, why on earth would you charge for someone who wasn’t even there?!
Won’t be eating there again, and I know this review won’t make much of an impact, but I think larger groups need to be aware that they will be delayed. I think if you when there for date night with your partner, these things...
Read moreWe are local to The Spot and have tried almost all of the restaurants. I have wanting to visit Maybe Frank for a while and have heard great things.
Upon arrival it was quite busy with a great vibe, the lady waiter that sat us down was really nice.
We both ordered Pizza, I am lactose intolerant so ordered my Patate Pizza without cheese and added hot salami from the recommendation of the waiter.
The food came out pretty fast, Pizza always looks weird without cheese. But this looked especially weird, then I noticed the pizza had nothing but potato and the salami. It had no Tomato base, or any base, it also didn't have the sausage.
I called the waiter over to check that I didn't accidentally order a pizza that came with no tomato sauce and to ask where my sausage was.
The waiter at first didn't understand me asking, so I asked is it meant to have tomato base and sausage?
He snatched the pizza from in-front of me with no explanation or apology and in the rudest tone said "you must wait" I was speechless.
I then called over the waitress who sat us to explain and ask her to ensure that the remade pizza came with no cheese. I also explained how rude the waiter just was. She was pretty friendly and quickly went to check.
The pizza came out pretty quick resolved and both the pizzas were actually really good, probably the best I have had in the area. Could have been cooked slightly longer but the taste was excellent.
When asking for the bill or leaving none of the waiters asked how the meal was or offered an apology for the earlier instance.
I've checked the menu today and seen that the pizza doesn't come with any base, this is very new to me, I'm sure it would have been fine if I ate cheese and I would have sucked it up and ate the pizza if I knew.
But that is the worse way I have ever been spoken to by a waiter and it ruined most of the meal for us.
Would I come to Franks...
Read moreI went here with my partner on the 3rd August around 7:30pm. As we went to order our food the waiter said she would come back as we were still deciding on the last pizza. 10 minutes went by and she never came back, we had to waive her down as she was focusing on people who turned up after us. After we got her attention, we asked to add the last pizza and instead of finishing off our order, she asked to take our menu and gave it to other people who came after us totally ignoring us. Then we had to waive her down again to order the last pizza, and she proceeded to ask do you need the menu? Funny I had to remember which pizza I wanted because she took our menu away before we ordered, completely rude. We then waited 30 minutes and no food came out. Another waiter asked us if we received anything, we told her we haven't received anything. After that we had to remind her of our order, then 5 minutes later one of our entrees came out with one pizza. We were still waiting on one more pizza and another entree, we had to remind the staff again. Then they brought out the last entree but no pizza, we noticed the manager giving the pizza we ordered to another table. After explaining that it was the pizza we ordered and were waiting 40 minutes for, he yelled at us and said it's not your pizza. What I found funny was the waiter who supposedly took our order, was right next to him and said nothing. After getting the food, that same waiter kept asking us if she can take the chilli oil from us and our plates while we were still eating from them. We never got told sorry and were never offered a complimentary drink for the terrible service we received. Just an idea, is it too expensive to print out more menus and have more jars of chilli oil so you don't have to harass people while they are eating. The customer service was dreadful and the food wasn't much better, will never come back...
