Mezzapica is a cafe that is a family owned business, located on the famous Norton St, Leichardt with plenty of outdoor seating. All day breakfast is available and they serve Toby’s Estate beans (almond & macadamia milk available). For those with a sweet tooth, there’s plenty of bakery goods, gelato & cakes. Grab a menu and order from the counter and the food will be delivered to you. From the breakfast offerings there’s eggs Benedict, omelettes, baked eggs, bacon and egg rolls, corn fritters to name a few. They also have some sweeter options like French toast and pancakes. We opted for a healthy choice: the gourmet granola with mixed berries, banana and yoghurt. It was served with a cute little strawberry flower on top. The cafe is currently offering other healthy options in collaboration with Wellness and Fitness. We ordered the breakfast bowl off this menu which consisted of poached eggs, kale, black quinoa, avocado, nuts/seeds and cherry tomatoes with beetroot relish and hummus and a quadrant of lemon to flavour your dish. They also had a poached chicken salad and grilled chicken burger as part of this menu. We would recommend keeping these options as in this day and age, plenty of people like to have these sorts of dishes as their go to option. If you’re planning on a lunch visit, you find wraps, burgers, salads and pastas, as well as child friendly options.

A bit disappointed with the quality of pastries & biscuits. We read good reviews of this place as one of the best Italian pastry shop in Sydney. Expected to have the awesome experience as Brunetti, Melbourne. Its a small local shop, some baked items on display including canolli. We bought 10 varieties of Italian biscuits/pastries, almond & ricotta tarts. Most of them had marzipan instead of fresh almond meal, didn't like the smell or taste. Pistachio amarettis smelled like gum. We requested good packing as will be flying home, instead got a massive box which was difficult to travel with.

Babà is very fresh and I can almost taste the baba al rhum from the one I tried at Napoli. Just less alcoholic from here. The texture of the sponge cake is very soft. We absolutely loved the cannoli with ricotta cheese as the outer pastry is nicely fried and a nice complementary of the filling, not too sweet, which is great so I can taste the lemon and the ricotta. The cookies and lemon tart and the layered vanilla slice were brought to family birthday and everyone enjoyed the variety of the textures of the crunchiness. The nice tangy and smooth taste of the tart is a surprise.

The cakes look nice but the flavour is not as satisfying as the look. We asked for a recommendation and we have been invited to try the pistachio cannoli. The filling looked way too green to be pistachio and the taste confirmed our suspicion. It tasted more like almond butter or something similar. Why would they recommend something that doesn't correspond to the description?! The service was the worst part of our experience. It was a very rainy day and we just sat outside on the covered table to consume the dessert we just bought, when after a couple of minutes, one of the staff asked us to move as they were closing the Café and had to bring the table inside. We were with our hands on the dessert, she didn't even wait for a response, she walked away moving other stuff inside the café, then she looked back at us looking really upset because we still hadn't moved within 2 minutes.

I would definitely not recommend this place! The only positive note was the ricotta tart, that would have been better if served warm anyways and not straight out the...

Most disgusting service I’ve ever witnessed. First of all, I went in one day into the cafe to order my mums 50th bday cake as I noticed the studio is closed now. I walk in, not greeted properly and the lady and who served me was so unprofessional. I asked about the studio and other questions regarding the cake and she bluntly looked at me like she didn’t care about my presence. She gave me no proper answers but just yes or no. She didn’t tell me how to move forward with ordering the cake, it really seemed liked she didn’t care whatsoever. Extremely rude and not great for their business. Another episode happened again when trying to order my mums 50th bday cake, my mum went in and organised a time with the owner to discuss the cake. He didn’t show up to his own shop and the coworker tried contacting him and didn’t answer.

We have been local customers for years and unfortunately we will no longer be spending one more dollar at this store....
