Embrace Greek food and culture at Koutouki in Leichardt. Mezze and music is the tag line for Koutouki, a traditional Greek restaurant in Leichardt. As soon as you enter the restaurant, you recognise itâs a traditional spot with the dĂ©cor and art on the walls. Staff are friendly and welcoming and showcase that Greek generosity of spirit. We are seated fast, and itâs all set up nicely for our friends birthday, where weâre having a set menu.
The food transports you back to Greece, and itâs to be shared amongst your friends. It is good to note that 90% is Gluten Free. We share a range of mezze between the table; beginning with a Greek Salad (tomatoes, cucumber, olives, onion and feta), followed by the trio of dips; tarama, tzatziki, spicy fetta and eggplant, served with pita bread.
The entrĂ©es were sized pieces of beautifully cooked haloumi, spanakopita, and pita, fried calamari â so beautiful, as well as the grilled octopus with oregano, olive oil and lime, and prawn skewers.
To share were giant mixed grill platters of lamb, pork, sausage, all sitting on a plate of moreish oregano seasoned fries. Dessert was the famous baklava, or filo pastry, with walnuts and syrup. This was a lot of food and we were so full by the end of the meal and enjoyed it so much.
They are fully licensed and wines are imported and can be purchased via the glass or bottle.
Thereâs entertainment too. Youâll find it to be a musical journey with live music in the front room, allowing for diners to enjoy whilst they have their meal. For our event, the attendees even had a bit of a dance. Sit back and enjoy your meal whilst being...
Read moreWhat strikes you initially as you walk into Koutouki is just how nice and homely it is. The place has a nice cosy comfortable feel to it. You know immediately that you can relax, forget about the world outside and just enjoy yourself. On Friday and Saturday nights they have live traditional Greek music too - a real family affair with singing by owner/musician Georgia and with the band including her husband. Live music can also be arranged for other days. The restaurant seats around sixty people and out the back is a separate function room seating a further sixty to sixty five. Both areas are popular. Their dips are to die for, and make sure you get plenty of their freshly baked pita bread to go with it too. The saganaki is a winner and the lahanodolmades are a must have! Save room for the mains too. The souvlakia and moussaka are filling and so tasty. Then dessert. We loved the galaktobouriko and baklava. The music there, traditional Greek, is worth the visit alone. The food at Koutouki is fresh and vibrant and the servings are very substantial. It really is amazing authentic Greek food where the recipes have been handed down from generation to generation. You are spoiled for choice and you certainly wonât...
Read moreI have been to this place two times before and took my friends to have a nice dinner and listen to nice music. Altough I made a booking 10 days ago and I chose this place for live music, we were made to sit at the back room- which you can watch the performance on the screen (?) we were told they would charge us $5 for our BYO at the weekend. We ordered set menu for 4 pp and the food wasnât enough at all- that definitely wasnât set for 4 pp, maybe for 2pp. Set menu included desert- when we asked for desert they gave us to menu and we chose what we want. When we got the bill, we noticied we were charged $9 for BYO and for all deserts extra $45! When we reminded desert was already in set menu, they said the desert in set menu would come as a little piece normally but they brought us a full size?????? We obviously wanted to get included desert, why would we order extra one? Throıghyout nite, we cried out to take their attention as they were more busy with taking care of the guests in the main room. I was made very uncomfortable with poor service and extra charges and got embarrassed for taking my friends to there. We ended up paying almost $300 for little dips and 4 screw of meat. We will...
