Milk Crate Waterloo — Restaurant in Sydney

We came here based on the high ratings but were extremely dissapointed by the service. We ordered our food pretty soon after sitting down but it took almost 45 minutes to serve 3 bagels/ sandwiches.

We then asked if we could cancel because we had to leave to somewhere else and it was taking too long, and the staff member rolled their eyes and offered absolutely no apology or acknowledgment.

The bagels were just placed on the heating tray at this point, but she said that she can’t cancel and again offered absolutely no apology.

It seems that everyone else was getting late service too, but for some reason the ladies were offering apologies to them and not us. They were also saying hello and giving smiles to the other customers. Not sure if it’s because we were not the “usual customers”, but it did feel like we were being treated differently to the other customers.

Supporting my local cafe at Waterloo. The service was great and staffs were super friendly as well. I’m in love with their mushroom cheese toastie. The mushroom cheese toastie is one of the best mushroom cheese I’ve never had (if not the first fav, it’ll be the second fav of mine). The toastie was light and yet strong with the cheese. Bagel was fulfilling and coffee was high quality as well.

I’ll definitely come back for the mushroom cheese toast and hopefully we can dine in in this cafe soon. The decorations in this cafe are lovely...

I have ordered food and coffee from here for years. Food is amazing and ive always had great service in person. But i always wait more than an hour If I order through a food delivery service like uber eats. Today is my fourth time waiting an excessive amount of time for food prep on a couple of coffees and sandwhiches (excluding delivery time). If you want eat here, you really need to travel into the cafe because the food service orders are obviously deprioritized.
