Sup Thai restaurant — Restaurant in Sydney

Recently had a delightful Thai meal at Sup Thai in Waterloo. It's a cozy little spot that seems perfect for anyone who loves Thai food. We ordered Hokkien Kimao noodles (chicken) & Tom Yum Fried Rice (chicken)

The Hokkien Kimao with Chicken was a standout. As soon as it arrived, the aroma of basil and chilli was wonderful. The noodles were cooked just right – springy and coated in a soy sauce that had a lovely touch of sweetness & a great smoky flavour. The chicken was tender and there was plenty of it, along with a generous amount of fresh Thai basil, onion, and a noticeable kick of 🌶 (which you can request!). It was a really well-balanced dish with savoury, spicy, and fresh notes in every bite, and the portion size was quite satisfying. I definitely recommend trying it if you visit.

While the Hokkien Kimao was a highlight, the Tom Yum Fried Rice with Chicken, though perfectly fine, didn't quite reach the same level for me. It looked appealing, with chicken, egg, and vegetables mixed into the reddish rice. The classic Tom Yum flavours were there, giving it a nice tang and fragrance. The chicken was cooked well, and the rice wasn't too oily. However, the overall flavour felt a bit subdued and didn't have the vibrant punch I often expect from Tom Yum. It was a decent version and satisfied my craving for the flavour in fried rice, but it wasn't particularly memorable.

The food was amazing and unique. It was the first time I had a creamy omelette rice with a braised beef. Looked exactly like it was in the picture. The portion sizes were pretty decent. They had a large bed of rice in the omelette rice dish, with creamy egg on top. The braised beef was soft and tender with lots of flavour. You could taste the fushion of garlic chilli and Thai basil. I also ordered an entree of fried squid. It was cooked well, and the seafood was fresh and was seasoned very well.

The presentation of the food was lovely. The store was clean and there was fast and effective customer service.
