Miss Lilian — Restaurant in Sydney

Miss Lillian is an absolute gem! The atmosphere is bright, fun and inviting and the staff are wonderful and friendly from the moment you walk in. They have created a menu with photographs of the food to give diners a better idea of the dishes, all Asian in nature but primarily Vietnamese. The food arrives fairly quickly and is spectacular both in presentation and most importantly in taste. Everything is incredibly fresh and flavors are delicately balanced in a way that one would expect from a starred restaurant or another fine dining establishment, but here prices are reasonable and the atmosphere isn't stuffy. The atmosphere, far from stuffy, is enlivened by the wonderful staff who are kind, warm, and genuinely seem to be having fun working at Miss Lillian. We so thoroughly enjoyed our experience there we decided to dine twice, speaking with Tom the manager about his home in Vietnam and tasting their special blend of tea from Hanoi, his hometown. This restaurant would be successful in any high end market in the US including West LA and resort towns in Colorado such as Vail or Aspen. I highly recommend it. We had the Tenderloin Beef Pho, Ramen, Mixed Meat Skewers, and the Organic Garden salad, as well as flowering tea and the Passionfruit Custard tart, all of which were excellent. I dined here with my family recently and had the best dining experience in memory. The decor is beautiful, with a ceiling full of birdcages and faux birds dotted around the eclectic Asian influenced dining room. The service was exceptional and staffed by the same staff that work at fine-dining Echoes next door (as explained to us by the manager of both when he stopped by during our meal). But while the same staff continue to be extremely professional, accommodating and friendly, they create a more relaxed and chilled atmosphere than the fine dining experience they provide next door. We were advised that they have only been opened for a few weeks after closing due to COVID-19 a year ago and had made some changes. We tried a selection of many of the items on offer and were hard-pressed to pick a favourite as they were all so exceptional. Although I do highly recommend the Teriyaki Wagyu Skewers, Duck Fried Spring Rolls and the Chef Selection of Dumplings which are all freshly made in house and the best I've ever tried! I am already looking forward to my next visit, to ensure I leave enough room to try their pretty pasties which are featured proudly in their display case. I used to come here all the time and it’s still just as amazing as I remember. Staff were absolutely amazing with their customer service and recommendations.

Love the environment and that it was actually warm inside and very comfortable, they maximise the space for lots of seating but not so you are squashed, lots of places in Katoomba need to learn from them! Amazing.

The food was delicious, my partner and I ate everything and were left still talking about it. Definitely coming here for our next family outing.

The drinks menu is superb, such an amazing selection of drinks left me wanting to order 1 of everything to try, we got the Thai milk tea which tasted very traditional, was delicious.
