My favourite poke place in Sydney! Mogo Mogo is a local small business with a very personal, homey feel compared to the franchise across the road. They have caring and professional staff who are always so friendly and accommodating (Elle in particular - she is the BEST).
They also have a diverse menu with lots of different toppings inspired by Japanese and Korean cuisine, and they also offer convenient half/half base options. They also serve sushi, gyoza, miso soup and dried seaweed snacks. Prices are moderately high but they are very generous with toppings and every ingredient is always fresh, so the purchase is worth it. They also dress their sushi rice and potato noodles with sesame oil, which is a great extra touch that makes their bowls so delicious!
Also, I left my Airpods there one time, messaged them on Instagram to ask if they saw them, and they replied instantly and kept them safe until I collected them :) Thank you for being the best!! You are 10000x better than the place across...
Read moreMogo Mogo in Coogee is a causal and healthy restaurant, Japanese based. Primarily serving poke bowls, they do have pre devised bowl ideas (but made in the spot) if youâre happy with their favourite, or you can âmake your own bowlâ.
If you choose to make your own, you can select a base; salad, kale, brown or white rice, add a protein (sashimi, Meat or tofu) and 5 salad ingredients. You can then select some crunchy toppers and a dressing of choice. This was my preferred option and I enjoyed a salmon sashimi topped salad. All ingredients were super fresh and generous in its serving.
The staff were extremely friendly and served with great efficiency. The meal is a perfect choice if youâre keen for something fresh, healthy, quick and not too expensive. Youâre also able to eat in if you prefer.

Read moreSurprisingly it has always been fairly difficult to get decent poke bowls here in Sydney (it was always easy living on the West Coast of the states for university and graduate school ages ago, which is second for poke bowls only to Hawaii, but even at home in London and Manhattan we are able to get a good poke bowls, and tbh even in cities like Cape Town), and fishbowl has really gone downhill over the last several years (if you get one piece of fish and it isnât 100% rice, you are lucky), so whilst getting this via Uber eats with a delivery fee etc. was quite a bit more than just walking down the street to pick up fishbowl, it was good enough compared to the alternatives that we ordered from them a few times and will continue to whenever we...
