The venue looked nice with a busy and warm atmosphere. I arrived on a Saturday afternoon but was unfortunately put off by my interaction with the bouncer and chose not to enter. I hope other patrons won’t have a similar experience and can either be met with respect or visit an alternative venue as there are plenty of excellent drinking establishments in Newtown.
I attempted to read the COVID info sign at the entrance and scan the QR code only to be whistled at and wordlessly pointed to line up behind another party. Prior to this, there was no communication or signs to queue. I asked twice if I can scan the QR code to complete whilst queuing up only to be told rather impolitely to “get in line” and that he would come to us.
My friend and I then line up and true to his words, the bouncer comes and wordlessly shows the QR code on his phone. I’m not sure what is the advantage of this over scanning the QR code in the sign as it could not have been due to social distancing as none of the staff were wearing a mask but I suppose I’m glad that I could help someone feel self important.
In the end, my friend and I chose to leave and as we walked back past this place, my opal card fell from my bag. I walk back to pick it up only to see the same bouncer heading to pick it up too. I repeatedly tell him “I’ve got it” as I wanted to limit contact due to COVID only for him to ignore me, pick it up anyways then hand it to me with a “there you go, attitude”, a click of his tongue, and a wink for...
Read moreLong time fan of mountain goat beer so was stoked when they opened up a place in Sydney. Ok food, brilliant beer and great company made a fantastic night. However, as I made my way to leave, as I usually do to help the wait staff, I clear my area and put my plates or rubbish in an easily collected area to free up the spot I had just left. On this occasion I left an empty plastic chewing gum container at the bar area rather than leave it randomly at a table. After walking not more than four metres away the bar staff threw that container at me, turning around he hurriedly pretended that he was pouring a drink and that he wasn't the culprit. Congratulations my friend, I had a wonderful night ruined by your childish attitude and pathetic arm (you missed by the way). 6 weeks after opening you shouldn't be jaded yet and especially in this current climate affecting the social scene. I hope your manager can pull you into line... Or at least teach you...
Read moreGood spot for a drink and some wings, but we decided to go for dinner on a Wednesday night and the mains were totally over priced and under par in quality. I paid $38 for a sirloin cooked medium, had no marbling and I'm almost sure it was a rump, it was cooked closer to well done and had low to no flavour whatsoever, I've had a better steak at a local pub with the $10 special. My old man ordered the pasta of the day which was tortellini, it tasted like it came in frozen in a packet, drowned in sauce and put a bit of parmesan on top then send it. Even my misses pizza was under par, I swear I've had a better pizza from Dominos. It's worth noting that the FOH staff were really nice and the cider on tap is decent, but I did flag the low food quality and was offered a drink for my troubles. Considering half the food was still on the table I really would have expected some or all of...
