At Myeongdong Restaurant in North Strathfield, you're immediately enveloped in a casual and welcoming environment, setting the scene for a genuine Korean culinary journey. Despite the bustle, the service manages to be notably swift, ensuring that your experience is as efficient as it is enjoyable. The range of side dishes, known as banchan, are a testament to the authentic Korean dining experience offered here. These small, shared plates are an essential element of the meal, inviting diners to sample a diverse palette of tastes and textures. In terms of the main dishes, the kitchen showcases its prowess. The seafood pancake boasts a delightful contrast between its crisp edges and the soft seafood within. The beef rib soup is a rich, aromatic bowl of comfort, signaling hours of careful preparation. Vegetarian deep-fried dumplings emerge as a crowd-pleaser, their crunchy exteriors revealing a flavorful and satisfying interior that caters to various dietary preferences. There was, however, a slight misstep with the pan-fried chicken, where one thicker piece was not fully cooked through. This was an isolated incident in an otherwise flawless presentation of dishes. Be prepared for the likelihood of queues, a testament to the restaurant's popularity. But take heart; the line moves steadily, a sign of the restaurant's commitment to good service. Myeongdong Restaurant remains a must-visit spot in North Strathfield for anyone eager to dive into the depths of Korean cuisine, with its bountiful banchan and robust main courses that promise a meal both heartening and authentically Korean.

What a feast! Korean food is just wonderful. There are some negative, one star reviews on here, please ignore those. The service is friendly, the wait times are reasonable and the food arrives in a timely manner. The days of a price for white devils and a price for Koreans are long gone. We were lucky enough to share a similar feast in downtown Seoul, and the food at Myeongdong was just as good. Certainly the Banchan (side dishes) were numerous and tasty. From the cubes of acorn jelly to the kimchi to the mushed up tofu to the mountain greens Korean cuisine is ingenious for the way it uses left overs. The TtEok beoki was delicious, although the addition of gyoza (fried dumplings) felt a little out of place. The seafood pancake delectable and the croquettes delicious, although I don't know you can go too far wrong with deep frying mashed potato and seafood. We had the fried chicken (more fried stuff, I know, right!) soy flavoured and delicious, but I'll try the snow cheese next time. We ate a lot, but I doubt you'd come away from this restaurant feeling hungry. Cass beer (Korean, of course) and Raspberry Rice Wine were a real treat. Coveted the clay dishes and hoped they were for sale, but sadly they weren't. Probably not a great idea for a restaurant to sell its limited number of plates, especially when they need so many per group. Hard to fault this restaurant --- perhaps a bit more Korean paraphernalia on the walls? King Sejong's Hunmin Jeong-eum, for example. Loved the theatrical masks.

Is a Friday night that we decided to have some hot food and drinks but not western not Chinese, so we do Korean! Environment 4/5 It’s a Friday night and it’s inevitable to see the long queue. But is not too bad, we queue for about 20 minutes for our turn. It is quite cramped with the crowd and tables are very close to each other as well Service 4/5 Took quite a while for someone to reach us to place order. But the service to serve us food is fantastic, fast enough that we couldn’t finish our dishes and we have to stack up the plates 😂 Appetiser dishes 4/5 If this is your first time eating Korean, they provide small plates of appetisers that’s all you can eat. But don’t eat too much! Or you can’t fit the main dishes later. One of the Korean restaurants with the most varieties I have came across. Taste good as well. But din get my anchovies 🥹 Stir fried potato noodle 5/5 Surprisingly good, however the portion of the noodle is quite little but lots of meats and vege and seafood. Crispy boneless chicken 5/5 Nothing else to say, too good to feedback. Must order Army stew 4/5 Humongous! We couldn’t finish but it is flavourful and lots of meat and vegetable inside. We finished the noodle. But will be better with more cheese Will I come back again? 4/5 I will come back again for sure, but will bring more friends so that we can try more dishes! There’s many more on the menu I would like to try.

I have been a loyal patron of this establishment for many years, but this is the first time I feel compelled to leave such a negative review. From the freshness of the ingredients to the behavior of the recently hired staff, my experience last night was absolutely appalling. Moreover, my friends and I, as individuals from a different ethnic background than the staff, experienced blatant discrimination and exclusion, which is utterly unacceptable.

As a Korean restaurant, it was shocking that the stir-fried octopus we ordered was both soft and foul-smelling. When I initially raised the issue with a male server and requested a replacement, he merely stated that he would check with the kitchen. However, he did not go to the kitchen for the next 10 minutes, forcing us to escalate the matter to the manager.

At the end of our meal, the same server approached us and rudely asked us to leave, citing that there were only 10 minutes left of the designated 90-minute dining limit. He even attempted to clear away unfinished food from our table. This occurred on a non-busy Monday evening, with no other customers waiting and plenty of vacant tables available. Such actions contradict the policy posted on their walls, which specifies the 90-minute limit applies only during peak hours.

After we paid the bill and I was voicing my concerns to the manager, I noticed the servers standing together nearby, laughing and jeering at us. Their disrespectful behavior left me feeling deeply humiliated and angry.

As a long-time customer, I am profoundly disappointed by last night’s experience. I will no longer patronize this restaurant and will do everything in my power to share my experience with my friends and across social media platforms. This discriminatory attitude is not an isolated incident—I have heard similar complaints from others in my circle.

Such behavior is entirely unacceptable, and I hope this review serves as a wake-up call for the management to address these...
