Nestled just outside the Westfield Hornsby, a charming Vietnamese restaurant beckons to passersby, conveniently located near the main road. This delightful eatery is known not only for its authentic cuisine but also for a nearby sandwich bar that serves up delicious BBQ Pork rolls, famously known as Banh Mi. The star of the menu is the rare beef, which boasts rich flavours that truly tantalize the taste buds, and the generous portions ensure that no one leaves hungry. Patrons are greeted by a team of warm and attentive staff who go out of their way to make the dining experience enjoyable. For added convenience, the restaurant features a clean and accessible restroom, enhancing the overall comfort of visitors. It's worth noting that if you opt to pay using an electronic card, be prepared for a small additional surcharge. This vibrant spot offers a wonderful blend of flavours and hospitality, making it a must-visit for anyone in the area.

First off…customer service was nonexistent. Lady just threw the menus onto our table, while singing, as if she was in her own world, but without saying a word to us there and then, when we gave our order and when she gave our food. Then, we got the iced coffee that, as you can see in the picture, was half way filled, no presentation at all. As soon as we walked to our table as well, it felt very hazardous that the floor was so oily and slippery. Our table also did not look wiped down properly and all of the condiments were dirty as well, as seen in the picture. Keep in mind, we had just came in for breakfast at sometime just after they had opened at 9. However, the pho and crispy chicken tomato rice were nicely portioned and of good quality. Mind blown by this kind of attitude that it was funny enough to laugh at but also just really unbelievable.

Great Vietnamese restaurant just off the mall at Westfield Hornsby, about 100m from the fountain. This is the authentic experience, just like being there (in Saigon or HCM). I went for their Combination Beef Noodle Soup ($16) and the missus tried the Pork Chop Rice ($14)...Both were excellent. The soup had all the bits I was looking for, soft tendon, chewy bits and lots of beef in a flavoursome stock. The Pork was deep fried and served with a bowl of refreshing lemon grass scented dipping sauce....delightful! Dining room wont win any ambience awards, but hey, it's about the food! I noted that the washroom was very clean, reassuring! I picked up 4 Bah Mi (pork rolls) to take home after dinner....they too were great. You can afford to eat here every week and not break the bank. Well Done Pho Ngon!

Ordered Pho and it was inedible. I could not pull the meat apart even if my knuckles were white from the strain of effort.

To remain honest and attempt some sort of impartiality in this review, I will give kudos to the staff who offered to give a discount and microwave the food further as compensation. However this did not resolve the fundamental issue with the dish.

Because of this, I requested for the dish to be refunded, as it's standard for restaurants to do so if the food is subpar.

The owner/manager was incredibly aggressive despite our table remaining courteous when explaining our issues to her. Not once did we yell at her like she yelled at us.

She was evidently very trigger happy in escalating the situation unnecessarily because when I requested a refund, the she decided it was a fantastic idea to RING UP THE POLICE lol.

Not only that, but she had the audacity to lie to the police and say we consumed over half the dish as a reason to justify her refusal. In actuality I would say less than 10% of the dish was consumed. It's a small detail that's nonetheless a reflection of her poor character.

They also took pictures of us without our permission while we conversing with the police on the phone over what was happening. We requested them to delete it afterwards.

To be so greedy for profits to go to such lengths like this is utterly ridiculous and I feel sorry for the servers who have to work under such an incredibly infantile owner. They were very polite in comparison. The son of the owner was also a lot more mature in handling and de-escalation.

The constable we conversed with recommended that the best way to make a complaint is to write a review and let the whims of society determine the consequences. So I'll say this then as a summary:

I would not recommend this place to anyone. Period. The lack of self control by the owner is embarrassing. How do you expect to maintain a restaurant if you can't maintain your own temper?

Seems like all the other one star reviews are beginning to make a lot more sense. They...

Good place for a bread roll - they are just next to the Hornsby station, so great location to buy a bite. Good for pho - however,

  1. Service can be problematic. I went to the shop to have a quick early dinner. There were ~4 young male staff gathered and chat - chat so enthusiastically, so they forgot me after letting me know I could sit anywhere. Thank a female staff, who asked them to take an order from me. I often see they work as a great team when the restaurant is busy, but I didn't know their team work can be initiated only when the restaurant is busy. I will go back for Pho but not for a quick meal
  2. Bun - I don't know what bun really supposed to be. My first bun was at Chatswood, one of popular Vietnamese restaurants. Meat was well barbecued- tasty and juicy. However, meat from here was dry with no flavour - at the beginning, i thought that it was just a bad day. Now i know that's how they cook.
  3. my friend had a food served with a hair on it. She, a humble lady, did not know what to do. Report them or just not consume the contaminated part. We decided to report and let them do as per their own rules. Food returned after having unknown procedure without any apologies or explanation. My friend decided to ignore all events just like nothing happened. But i still doubt whether they have protocols to follow when they have issues with contaminated food. Things can happen, but they need to have a...

Food is fantastic, the best, I crave food from this restaurant! But great tasting food is all you will get at this place.

Service is always great but the staff need to be greeting customers and engage customers with some friendly/inviting small talk when we arrive, when serving the food to the table and when we leave (that kind of customer service is expected everywhere you go but they are not overly friendly in this place at all). Just expect that your orders get done easily, served timely and cleaned up when you are all finished together which is good. I hate it when one person finishes first and they start cleaning, make you feel like they care more about their efficiency and rushing you out the door than the customers experience (but that’s never happened to me here).

This restaurant has not adapted to modern needs of customers who want to go to a beautiful place to eat I.e., It’s not a place with fancy seating, it has those old cafe tables, the lights are very bright white and it’s a very outdated/plain looking place so loses stars for that. Also there’s no parking, you have to park in the library car park or the Westfield car park. They are not kid friendly e.g sharp utensils, buckets of chopsticks, many sauces and boiling hot tea jug on each table. If you have young kids, you know they want to just touch everything/open everything. Bring something to keep your kids occupied for while you wait...
