If you’re looking for poor service and a lukewarm apology, Blu Eatery might be the place for you.
I placed an online order for an 8:00 PM pickup. Their system, complete with live tracking, indicated it would be ready in 20 minutes. I arrived at 8:23 PM, once the tracker confirmed the food was ready.
When I approached the counter, the man helping me couldn’t find my order on the tablet and they had another gentleman check the kitchen. Three minutes later, I was called back and handed someone else’s frappe, despite having ordered a salad. They asked the gentleman that had checked the kitchen about my order and he said my full name and confirmed that the order existed...yet, he didn't explain the status of the order.
In good faith, I waited an additional 10 minutes in case there was a delay in the kitchen. Multiple staff, including the 2 individuals who had already dealt with my order, stood around cleaning glasses and tending to busy work. The restaurant was quiet and winding down for the night, so this delay certainly was not due to being overwhelmed.
No one offered an update or seemed concerned that I was still waiting, except for the General Manager, Farhad. He asked me if I wanted a coffee, which I said no and asked if I was waiting for food, which I confirmed.
Eventually, I approached someone who appeared to be a supervisor. He went to the kitchen and immediately returned with my order, which had apparently been sitting there the entire time, bagged and ready.
That was the most frustrating part: my food had been prepared, and nobody bothered to actually retrieve it. When I shared my frustration, the supervisor admitted it was poor service and offered me a coffee, at nearly 9 PM, as a good gesture. Not really what you want after waiting excessively long for a $30 salad.
The supervisor raised my concern to the General Manager, Farhad, who explained told me there was a “miscommunication with the kitchen” and that they were “keeping it warm.” For a cold salad. That excuse speaks volumes about their attention to detail and guest experience.
Farhad said he’d "speak to the staff," but that does little to resolve what had already happened.
My fiancé and I enjoyed visiting Blu Eatery often, it’s close to home and had offered something different. Unfortunately, this experience made it clear that customer service is not a priority here, nor is there any real intent to improve.
If you have time to waste and enjoy being ignored, Blu Eatery is the...
Read moreMy family and I have been customers of this restaurant for years, always impressed by the friendly staff and the fantastic food. Because it's a favourite, we chose to spend Father's Day lunch here.
Unfortunately, today's experience was shocking and completely unlike our past visits. We arrived at 11:30 am and were "greeted" by a manager (bald headed with glasses) at the entry. He abruptly informed us, "Breakie is over. And lunch won't start until 12:00 pm.". This is already a bit unusual, given we have been here for brunch in the past.
When my wife politely asked if we could put our name down for a lunch table, he responded with "there is no guarantee to have a table," delivered with a long face and an attitude that made us feel completely unwelcome and like we were an inconvenience. (I am puzzled to understand the statement - you either have a table or NOT having a table for us). He then said lunch was fully booked.
I pointed out that his attitude was very rude and that he could have simply and politely explained they were fully booked for both breakie and lunch at the first place. He then incorrectly claimed that I was asking for breakfast, which I never did and doesn't seem to be relevant at all.
We ended up going to the restaurant next door. They were also super busy but managed to find us a table very quickly. Most importantly, their staff were super friendly and welcoming, which just highlighted how poor our treatment was here.
It's a real shame that one staff member's poor attitude can so negatively impact the reputation of an otherwise great restaurant. This feedback is specifically about the...
Read moreIt's below average, overpriced, even the $14 pasta outside my door taste better than here.
I ordered a medium cooked steak which tasted and looked more like medium well. It’s so tough and not juicy.
After I talked with the staff here, they were so RUDE and not welling to listen to me. They told me that only the around is fully cooked, and the middle was medium. But when I cut it in between, it looks exactly the same! They still insisted that this was ‘the perfect medium’. Maybe they thought I'd never eat a medium steak at another restaurant. When I said that it was different from the medium I eat in other places, they said that's what the medium is here!
Until I was getting angry, they offer to redo it for me. The man I was talking to is an Asian bald man , he seemed to be the manager here, and as he was leaving he told me to remember to order Medium Rare next time. I was completely exasperated.
After I tried the redo steak, I found it was not fresh at all. The meat had been frozen for a long time, so the original red color could not be seen at all. It tastes terrible. The previous steak is so over cooked that I haven’t realised the meat is not fresh. It’s so ironic that their website says they offer the finest and freshest food. What a joke. Spent $40 for three prawns and still hungry when I left. The beef is not fresh the vegetables are so salty. So I could only eat the three prawns and left.
Strongly not recommended!! This is the worst restaurant I've ever eaten in Sydney. And the rudest employee I've ever met. I should trust the other low stars comments. This restaurant...
