Raffael's Bakery Haberfield — Restaurant in Sydney

I feel very disappointed. Raffael’s in Haberfield have long had my Mum’s favourite cream buns and my favourite carrot cake. She flew over from WA to visit me and we made a special trip from southwest Sydney to get our favourite sweet treats which she’s spent years dreaming about. The once decadent, super soft cream buns today felt like store-bought brioche buns that were a few days old and stuffed with lacklustre cream. We threw them in the bin and only ate the jam on top. The carrot cake was almost worse. We both agreed previously it’s the best carrot cake we’ve ever had - and I consider myself a keen enthusiast even making a pretty solid version myself. Last time, my mum ate nearly a whole slab in one day because it was that good! I made homemade carrot cake icecream with it - it was just divine! Today, I spat it out. The cake was dry and crumbly and the cream cheese frosting did not taste like cream cheese frosting. I can’t praise Raffael’s bakery enough for the amazingly delicious and gorgeous looking cakes that they bake. I’ve been ordering from them for years and their standard remains high. They have such a diverse selection of cakes that are all beautifully decorated and incredibly tasty: Italian Continental Custard Cake; Watermelon Cake; New York Cheesecake; Tiramisu Cake; Chocolate Jaffa Cake; Carrot Cake; Fresh Fruit Delight Cake; and Chocolate Mousse Cake amongst others. For such high-quality cakes, their prices are very reasonable, too. I’ve also ordered their delicious mini quiches and arancini and they were equally impressive. In addition, Raffael’s Bakery staff are always friendly, helpful and prompt with their deliveries. Raffaels Bakery is an absolute gem! We walked past just after 8am and there was already a line out the door, which speaks volumes about its popularity. After checking out the glowing reviews online, we decided to return. The line moved quickly, and the aroma of fresh baked goods was irresistible.

It was definitely worth the trip. We got a cherry pie, Arrancini balls (highly recommended in the reviews and they didn't disappoint), two pies, custard doughnuts, focaccias, and some little pizza bases.

Everything was delicious and fresh. I highly appreciate the recommendations and will definitely be back!
