A awful experience for me today at Ippudo Macquarie which ended with me throwing up in the Macquarie centre bathrooms. I started coming here a few months ago for the karaage chicken and usually it was quite nice. Today I ordered my usual 6 piece chicken as well as another dish, however when I started eating I noticed some of the pieces were very pink inside. Upon biting into the last piece, it was COMPLETELY RAW. The batter was still a paste inside. I attached some photos of the chicken which still had hair on it. Upon alerting my waitress she just said ok and walked to chat to the chefs. When I got no assistance I told her I had eaten the chicken, may be at risk of sickness and asked what would be done. She said that they would make another six piece chicken for me, and when I said I wasn’t hungry and was more concerned she just walked off to talk to the chefs again, who just stared at me. After several minutes of them chatting and me asking a third time for some help, she eventually came over and said she would refund me the price of the chicken only. I thanked her and left, and immediately threw up at the bathrooms inside having felt extremely nauseous and disgusted. I received no apology, no concern and no assistance from staff, at a place I have been frequenting for the past few months, bringing along my family and partner. I was shocked at this lack of care and the fact that I was only compensated $15 of a $25 meal that all ended up in the toilet. Please have caution when eating here, I’ll be avoiding it entirely...
Read more9 months ago, my original review for Ippudo Macquarie was 5 star. Since then, something has changed?
As a regular visitor, the first difference noticed was months ago when we arrived and tried to order and pay at the counter as normal, only to be told no, to order via QR code at the table, and that there was no other option available. This attitude made us immediately turn around and go dine elsewhere.
On this latest visit, we decided to take another look and noticed they were once again allowing customers to order and pay at the counter, a welcome return to form. So we gave it another shot.
Unfortunately, aside from the initial transaction, everything else about this Ippudo is a shadow of what it was before, and nowhere near the standard of Ippudo Ramen I have had elsewhere. It was very disappointing to find the pork in my bao was overcooked and dry, the noodles in our ramen were stuck together in a ball, the egg was completely boiled through...
The inauthenticity of the meal itself was compounded by ridiculous latin pop music being blasted throughout the dining area.
I don't know what happened to this place, but I'm sure that I'm not the only one who has noticed a change, since it was significantly quieter than it used to be. I'll be avoiding this particular Ippudo...
Read more2.3 - Warning: You will be overcharged. No way around it. No Cash Accepted. Last time I visited was 3 years ago, thought to try again. Sunday Surcharge for using a QR code essentially. Asked waitress if I could order at the till, saw the eye roll and she charged me the same as the QR system, despite the printed menu being different! I didn't see any sign saying No Cash Accepted. My Tonkotsu ($23.10 QR, or $21 Printed) was really salty and pasty, instead of creamy and nourishing. Extra noodle portion was good but remember surcharge! And it comes out cold and stiff! They don't give you a salad anymore but it was good they have Sesame on the table. No smiles from staff. They take their time. At least this time, the loud music was gone and the random yelling! A step forward.
I only got half a teaspoon of paste for my tiny gyozas. The music was way too loud that children were covering their ears and I could hardly think straight. Every now and then, the kitchen crew would yell something that would make everyone pause and turn their heads....
