Thai Break is conveniently located near the entrance of Macquarie Centre on Herring Road by the bus stops, so it's an easy place to stop if you're changing buses there. It is a great "neighbourhood Thai" place in a shopping centre full of chain stores. They also offer delivery, which is how I most often get their food (so I'm not rating service or atmosphere).

Not all dishes are a win, but the Pad Khing (ginger-spiced stir fry, pictured with my review) and the Larb Gai are reliably delicious, and the portions generous for the price. The Pad Khing's description says that it is mild, and it looks like a fairly plain dish, but it is actually somewhat spicy due to the ginger (just not chilli spicy). If you like ginger, I recommend it. It contains a good assortment of veg. Yesterday I ordered it with prawns, but received it with a mix of prawns and thin sliced lean chicken breast and enjoyed it so much I'll order it like that again.

I'm not sure the larb has toasted rice granules in it, but the flavour is spot on -- although if you are a fan of super-spicy larb, you might want to ask for more chilli. Unusual for larb in my experience, it includes some thin sliced chicken breast as well, It is a massive contrast with the spicy chicken burger mince dish served as larb by another Thai delivery restaurant this week, which had completely lacked sour and sweet dimensions.

In terms of authenticity, I have included the dockets from the two Thai restaurants I ordered from this week. For added authenticity, one is even written on the back of a thin cardboard carton cut down to size. I think it's fairly obvious which if the two is likely to provide more authentic Thai food. And...

One in Ten.

Ordered beef noodle stir fry, amongst other things. On the menu, it does not state there is corriander. And generally, beef noodle stir fry does not have corriander. Initially, I tried to pick the corriander out of the meal thinking it was garnish, but it was cooked throughout the meal. I asked if I could have the meal re cooked without the corriander.

The lady: If I cook it for you again you have to pay. It was your fault that you did not tell me. It was your fault!

Me: I understand, but if I knew there was corriander, then I would have asked for none. Where does it say on the menu that there is corriander?

The lady: If you have an allergy, then you have to tell us. I cannot cook for you another one. If I do, you have to pay.

Me: I cannot eat this dish. Why don't we compromise and I'll pay half?

The lady: no. If I cook you another one. You pay full.

I understand that I should inform the kitchen that I do not want corriander, but if the menu does not state there is corriander, shouldn't the onus be on the kitchen to inform there is corriander. Considering corriander is a herb you either like or dislike. Further, generally, beef stir fry noodle does not have corriander.

Furthermore, a customer pays for a meal to satisfy their hunger. The restuarant cooks the meal in exchange for money. However, shouldn't the restuarant aspire to satisfy the customer's hunger? The lady failed to understand that the dish with corriander was useless to me.

9/10 restuarants would have cooked the meal for me again without charging. This restuarant is the odd one out.

A reasonable person would have accepted my compromise of paying half the price to recook the...

Zero start rating experience, I recently had the misfortune of dining at this establishment, and I must say, it was an utterly disappointing experience. While the food was average, the service was abysmal.

From the moment I walked in, I sensed a lack of enthusiasm from the staff. When I requested cutlery from one of the servers, she tossed it onto the table with a look of exhaustion, as if I was inconveniencing her.

However, the server with the fringe was the epitome of poor customer service. Her attitude was unfriendly, and she seemed completely disinterested in attending to our needs. It was as if she was bothered by our presence.

The overall atmosphere was lacking, but it was the appalling service that truly ruined our dining experience. As a paying customer, I expect a certain level of respect and attention, which was sadly missing here.

In light of this disastrous experience, I would not hesitate to say that this restaurant needs to reassess its staff's customer service skills. A refresher course on hospitality and basic human interaction would be beneficial.

Until then, I would strongly advise against visiting this establishment. The lackluster service and unwelcoming atmosphere make it a place to avoid. Perhaps it's time for the management to reconsider their approach to customer service or risk losing...

4.1 - Had a wonderful lunch here of the Chicken Mince with Rice, Fried Egg on Top ($12.90). I also got two of the Fish Cakes to try ($1.50 each). The Fish Cakes were a tad expensive and small (came with Sweet Chilli sauce). If they made them tastier and larger for that price, it would be even better! I tried the Thai Pink Milk Team which was disappointing because it just tasted like drinking a Strawberry Moove. No taste of Tea was detected, although there was a very very slight aftertaste.
