Sapporo Sushi Bar Lidcombe — Restaurant in Sydney

This was one of our new favourite places to buy sushi in our area - until tonight. Every single time without fail, the person serving us has offered to make our order fresh - until tonight. We chose 2 boxes from the cabinet at full price. I specifically asked if they had been made fresh to which the lady serving me said that yes they were. Once I had paid for the sushi I picked it up and it was fridge cold. I asked her to make the order fresh and she reluctantly went to take the boxes back but then insisted that yes, they were fresh. The sushi was definitely not freshly made. It was stone cold. The rice was hard and the sauce had soaked into the sushi. It was some of the worst sushi I have ever eaten. I made a complaint to the same woman as we walked out and she barely uttered a word, just looking at the cabinet. As much as we were looking forward to ramen and sushi, this place is not exactly a master of either of these types of food. It's a korean/japanese all rounder, which is fine if that's what you're looking for. The edamame was fine, they were inconsistent with the sushi rolls for my kids and maybe I'm spoilt, as these sushi rolls weren't packed as tight as we've seen in other establishments. The poor waiter may not be the best judge of appetite as his recommendations weren't fitting for what we were looking for. The Ramen appeared to be a fusion of japanese and korean cuisine, and it was unfortunate that they didn't have any of the traditional porks for it - more like teriyaki / karaagemeat substitutes (you don't put teriyaki in ramen :\ ) This place has the potential to be so great! I had frequented this place and hadn’t had a bad experience until today. Ordered two dishes and while waiting for the second one the teams that ordered their dish after us got served their food (one of which was pork katsu bento when we had ordered pork katsu as well). After waiting 5 more minutes (during which they brought out food for other teams behind us) we asked whether we can cancel. The lady looked at us and didn’t say anything and walked away into the kitchen. It was obvious they had forgotten our order. We waited a few more minutes and went up to the counter to ask for refund and lady just looked very dumbfounded. While she did refund us the second dish there was no apology for the inconvenience.
