My experience here with a friend was very disappointing, as it became clear this restaurant prioritises aesthetic while failing to achieve any customer service. The layout is very confusing as you order from your table and have to pick up your food from the counter; which is alright as an operational model, however thereâs no-one at the door or on the floor to help guide customers understand this, which meant we had to ask the cooks how it worked. I understand youâre trying to appeal to younger customers by having them order at the table rather than with a waiter, however there still needs to be at least an attempt at customer service or your customers will not return. Regarding the food, my friend ordered the vegetarian plate which had no flavour and the cauliflower was hard. I ordered the Knafeh which took 32 minutes to arrive; and when it did, it tasted rubbery and hard - not at all how knafeh should taste. This is what happens when the whole focus of your restaurant is trying to get an Instagramable aesthetic, with zero focus on customer service and high quality food. Iâd heard similar attitudes from other family whoâd visited, but wanted to give it a shot myself. This place has such high potential as a charming upcoming restaurant in Liverpool, but will yet fail while their business model remains as confusing as their restaurant ⌠- squeezing the money from your purse with no customer service to...
Read moreJust clear things up, shepherdâs lane cafe did not get taken over only the bakery section did called âson of a bakerâ. When the paper mill first opened it was jam packed with new comers, service was extremely slow and prices not reasonably cheap. A few months in, the paper mill have lost customers and it fells quite empty. As I always do, you cannot fully give 2-3 star ratings based on one visit, you need to go back overtime to retry and review. The coffee was not good when it first opened, but it has improved and I quite enjoy my lattes. I have yet to try food menu for breakfast/lunch, but I did try the son of a baker croissant menu. It has some interesting flavours, looks pretty, taste good and non-expensive. But I wouldnât say their croissants are super delicious, if youâre comparing them with gumnut patisserie. Shepherdâs definitely have a decent menu to try, but nothing âwowâ or âinstagram-ableâ if thatâs...
Read moreThe food was great and the coffee was decent but the layout is slightly confusing when with a large group and staff are unhelpful. There is one menu board so we took a seat and decided from the online menu as to not block the entry, but when we went to order, multiple dishes such as waffles were not available until a certain time with no notice online nor the menu board. There were some discrepancies between the online and in store menu as some components of two of our meals were missing and we were told they weren't included despite being listed...
