I am utterly appalled by my experience at Shuk Bakery. What was supposed to be a delightful meal turned into an absolute nightmare. The much-anticipated shakshuka arrived with partially raw eggs, a blatant disregard for basic culinary standards. It's beyond me how any restaurant could think it's acceptable to serve undercooked food, especially something as simple as eggs!
As if the inedible dish wasn't enough, the outdoor seating was a war zone, with pigeons constantly harassing patrons. These pests were everywhere, diving for crumbs and making the whole dining experience unbearably stressful. The management seemed completely indifferent to this avian assault, leaving customers to fend for themselves.
To add insult to injury, the bill for this disaster was an outrageous $85 for a quantity of food that should have cost around $50. This blatant overpricing for such poor quality and terrible dining conditions is nothing short of a rip-off. Shuk Bakery has truly set a new low in dining experiences. Avoid this place at all costs if you value your money, your time, and your sanity.

Read moreMade a reservation to have lunch on New Year's Day with my parents. I live locally and have had many great experiences at Shuk so am confused as to how it has gone so wrong. Arrived and had to chase someone down to inform them we have a booking. He appeared confused saying he didn't have the booking. I showed him the confirmation email, he gave me a little nod and then he disappeared. Came back a little while later to show us to our table. Had to chase people down to get any service at all. Food arrived before drinks, orders were forgotten, coffee was burnt and awful, empty plates and glasses left on the table for more than half an hour attracting flies over to us. The one shining star in the experience was the food. It appeared the chefs had not been affected by whatever had caused everyone else working there to forget themselves for the day. I spoke to our waiter about my disappointment and he informed me they had an issue with their POS system. Working in the industry, I understand issues like this can be difficult to deal with but it was no reason for the lack of communication and service. There were no apologies, no leadership and the staff seemed reluctant to speak to us at all. I hate leaving reviews like this and prefer to address them on the spot, however, I was disappointed when staff on the day did not want to engage with me. I was embarrassed to have brought my parents here to show them my corner of the world.
EDIT: Pretty disappointed in the response of the owner to this review. Incredibly dismissive. Will not be giving Shuk another chance and would not recommend...
Read moreShuk has to be one of the best places for brunch in Bondi. Tucked away in North Bondi, they’re always busy on the weekend with people waiting for a table. Skip the queue by booking online in advance - I’d avoid the ‘back garden’ though, it’s much better in the main restaurant area. The restaurant is really dog friendly and the food is fantastic. I’d recommend the Shakshuka with halloumi - it’s delicious. If you live nearby you can grab a coffee there before jumping on the 379 bus to...
