While I've given this take-away-only eatery the minimum of ONE star, I must make a few things clear; if taken seriously, they would surely lead to this business selling much better food (which would of course lead to more money for the owner): 1._____To customers: Please check the most recent reviews in case the owners/operators have improved because of so many past complaints. Regarding the 5 star reviews, be suspicious about persons connected to the owners giving over-shiny reviews. _ To the owners/operators: Please look carefully at the complaints and reviews and try your best to improve. Improvements can only lead to prosperity. _ Again to the owners/operators: Reply to customer complaints -- and reply honestly. I am sure you will be surprised at how positively customers will respond to your honesty.
Now here’s my own experience over the years (probably the past six) with this eatery (of irregular, now-and-again visits, if I happen to be in Ashfield)..
The quality has never been the same, and eating their food has sometimes resulted in illness. “Sometimes” is too often, as just a single time can be extremely nasty. Upon complaining directly to the apparent owner, he disdainfully dismissed my complaint as “it’s because of the chilly” -- and I was damn sure it was not “because of the chilly”.
On one occasion, the Tandoori chicken was not fully cooked, but rather than complaining, I took it home to cook it some more in the microwave, and it was fine. But I did mention it the next time I bought food there, asking them to “please be careful”.
One might wonder, why I kept going there if the food was so risky to eat. Indeed! My last meal there -- their Biryani -- led to stomach problems. That was months ago; haven't been back since.
Prior to that, I had begun to stick to what was freshly cooked, for example their Aloo Paratha, which they serve neatly packed in a container of Raita (or similar). That has been safe so far (though one should be wary of anything containing dairy). But I often get tempted by the other meals, and I tend to want to give them another chance. (I understand how getting work at fair wages is for ethnics in Australia. (In other words complain about unfair wages -- or other unfair treatment -- and the employer fabricates some spurious reason to fire you.) What this leads to is ethnic Australians will tend to set up their own businesses because being an employee can be hell (as it has been for me during my decades of life in Australia, during which I was unable to leave through government manipulations of my immigration case). By the way, just to be clear, I don’t judge Australian *people for the nastiness and humiliations ethnics must endure -- most are fair-minded folk -- but there is a lot of nastiness inflicted by the powers-that-be, mostly in hidden ways. And of course, cruelties are not only inflicted upon ethnic Australians, but to 'pink' Australians also; think ‘Robodebt’.
While I seem to have gone off on a tangent, be it known that I tend to be unusual in being able to see interconnectedness(es) of behaviour, situations and events, often unconsciously. For example the un-smiling or uncommunicative server may not be earning enough, may be having personal problems; whatever. I’m hoping that this review will be read by the owner/operator of Sindoor, that they will understand that some of us customers also understand. But in the end, we will all need to look after ourselves -- including our own stomachs -- because nobody else will.
Thanks for reading, and thanks in advance to the people at the Sindoor eatery for acting on all that I've said here.
Kind regards to...
