I recently visited this butcher shop with a disabled elderly woman in a wheelchair, and we were treated with incredible rudeness by one of the staff members, an Asian woman. I simply asked her if she could cut a piece of chicken for us, and instead of responding politely, she rudely said “no, no ” and walked away without offering any further explanation. She didn’t even try to assist us or clarify which chicken could or could not be cut.

The disabled woman felt anxious and humiliated by this behavior. Left with no other choice, she had to settle for something else, despite not wanting it. It was incredibly disrespectful and unprofessional. The shop was not busy at all—there was no reason for this kind of behavior.

While I cannot comment on the quality of the meat, the service here is absolutely terrible. When we shop, we are not just paying for the products; we also expect good customer service, which was entirely absent here. It is unacceptable that a staff member lacks the patience and compassion to assist a disabled customer, especially when no one else was waiting.

If you are considering visiting this shop, I strongly advise against it. The service is extremely poor, and the lack of respect and professionalism makes it clear they do not care about their customers. This was not just bad service—it was a humiliating experience.

Ashfield best meats will charge 50c for using eftpos for payments. This practice goes against rules set out by the ACCC, when I brought this to their attention they seemed to have no idea, stating that they have always done this, I alerted them to the fact that laws surrounding surcharges restrict this kind of profit-gaining practice for the use of eftpos, they showed no care for their legal obligations under consumer law. I wholly agree with some of the reviews posted, customer service is well below competency, especially a woman in her mid 30's. I was actually scared to be served by her, I even let other customer go first. She would get very angry if I ask to give me the meat I wanted. A couple of weeks ago I bought 1.5 "premium' mince, gosh the meat was like eating flour. They are definitely adding bones when they mince, they use the left over bones and save on the meat. Never again!
