SOULPLATE — Restaurant in Sydney

It was a busy day in the area as the French markets were on next door. The cafe had three team members on the floor serving tables and a barista making coffee.

We were left waiting at the entrance for a table with no one approaching us or acknowledging us at all - staff continuously walked right past us for 10mins, while empty tables with dirty plates sat there, the barista didn’t even say anything like “we’ll be with you..” just ignored completely. They also chose to serve customers who came after us to order takeaway.

We took the initiative to approach the waiter and were told we couldn’t sit at the empty tables. It’s not a big cafe, just felt disorganised - like the team had no assigned roles so were all over the place and couldn’t handle the slightest morning rush. Clearing tables and having customers waiting seated was not a priority at all.

We eventually got there and despite the wait, the coffee and food was lovely so I’m still giving the cafe 5 stars.

If service is very important to you as a customer, then be prepared on busy weekends to be pushing for a table, cleaning up the dirty plates and following up waiters to order at this cafe. I’m sure at other times it’s fine.

To the cafe: please be prepared on busy market days. Roster extra staff, brief your team in the morning, be more proactive on clearing tables and acknowledging customers lining up at the door, especially if they have arrived before takeaway customers, as this sets the tone of every customers experience.

I had an excellent experience at this cafe! The food exceeded my expectations with its delicious flavors and generous portions. Every dish I tried was outstanding, from the savory breakfast options to the delightful desserts. The quality of ingredients was evident in every bite, and I appreciated the attention to detail in presentation.

The portion sizes were just right, satisfying without being overwhelming. I left feeling fully satisfied and eager to return to try more of their menu. The service was exceptional as well—friendly, attentive, and efficient. The staff made me feel welcome and ensured that everything was to my liking throughout the meal.

The ambiance of the cafe was inviting, with a cozy and relaxed atmosphere that enhanced the overall dining experience. Whether you're looking for a quick bite or a leisurely meal, this cafe is a fantastic choice.

I can't wait to come back and explore more of their offerings. This place has quickly become a favorite of mine, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for delicious food, generous portions, and excellent service. Five stars...

Ok so you can go to a cafe etc once and get a good experience but when you go twice and each time it’s great, only then you know you are onto a winner. Thats Soulplate!

Second time her and what can I say? So good.

Service - excellent. The waiter remember me as well from weeks before.

Food - excellent. Now I know I only had the omelette and I requested no sourdough (only a soft food diet due to surgery) but it was awesome. The waiter offered me to have another additional filling as I was not having the sourdough but I said no 3 are good for me.

Coffee - terrific. First time here I dropped in again after appointment nrl grab a takeaway. Yes it’s that good.

Atmosphere- wonderful. Great setting. Seating options are tremendous. Again staff are attentive, professional and make you feel welcomed and valued.
