Summerland Bankstown — Restaurant in Sydney

I have been to this venue previously and loved it so I decided to book a family party there to show them the venue and share my experience. I was HIGHLY disappointed. I rang 4 weeks prior to our event which was on a Saturday night and scheduled the booking, we are a large family and need to make sure our booking is confirmed with the owner Sharif and he said it was fine and confirmed the booking, $75pp for adult & $40 for kids from 3 years old to 10 years old excluding alcoholic beverages. Our event was a surprise 60th birthday party, which I repeated at the time of booking twice, I then rang two weeks pre event to confirm numbers and reminded the owner of the event type- surprise 60th birthday party, I also rang him on the day of the event to remind him, and again when I reached the venue on the night. My guests all arrived and they were not ready yet to get them inside the restaurant as it was not ready yet. It gets worse, I then get informed that there’s a wedding booked at the venue too?! I mean you’d think that this information is shared with us when we made the booking? What the hell was the management thinking to not warn us ? The entrees were perfect but the mains were disappointing, for 14 adults, and 1 child there was only enough food for maybe 10 maximum, like an absolute direct theft honestly. The dance floor was crammed with wedding guests and absolutely congested & people smoking cigarettes inside the restaurant. There was a belly dancer there for entertainment which was nice part of the program. We requested 4 songs and were shrugged off because the dj couldn’t play them? I have ALWAYS played those songs in my previous visits to this venue but I guess the band needed to play wedding suited songs?! Again, disappointed that the venue was shared like this My family will not recommend this venue and we will not be back. Management asked me to write a review after all the above hiccups with no apology given to any of the inconveniences. I am very very very disappointed. I would recommend a bar menu so people can read and choose their beverages. Also do not cram your venue, also they charged us more than we agreed with owner Sharif when I told the lady in charge she said the owner said to charge that much money for our table which is absolutely wrong and she kept arguing with me for the extra money that I got charged. Shame on them to steal money from people like this that’s really disgusting and the owner has to be closing his restaurant a big thief and scam’s . Not recommend anybody to go into that...

Our event was a surprise graduation party, which I repeated at the time of booking twice, I then rang two weeks pre event to confirm numbers and reminded the owner of the event type- surprise graduation party, I also rang him on the day of the event to remind him, and again when I reached the venue on the night. My guests all arrived and they were not required to check-in. Our surprise guest arrives and instead of announcing his name and a congratulations, the management announced that it was it his birthday and played him a birthday song, despite a graduation hat and balloons and cake all around our table AND the numerous reminds I made to him too. It gets worse, I then get informed that there’s a wedding booked at the venue too?! I mean you’d think that this information is shared with us when we made the booking? What the hell was the management thinking to not warn us ? I came in with my friend today after a long day. We both walk in with all the staff staring at us, as we walk closer, one of the ladies that were serving us rudely asks us Infront of everyone what we “wanted”. Mind you she didn’t direct us to the order station or anything. If you think that was bad, when my friend couldn’t pronounce one of the orders on the menu and this lady decided to roll her eyes and reply “I don’t understand what you want”. After our order was done she did not even respectfully hand it to us where we waited but decided to dangle the food near the door saying “it’s ready”. I don’t appreciate the way the staff is in general. They definitely need to all learn some customer experience and learn how to make customers feel comfortable and welcome. I also didn’t appreciate the whispering and looks that we’re directed to us. I really wanted to show my friend a good experience because I have been there before and completely adore The cheese spring rolls. My friend was so upset and in fact didn’t want to eat the food/ come back again. This was absolutely disappointing and I don’t see any reason for such rude behaviour.
