*Erythritol explained below. George W. Bush called sugar the "evil doer" (or was that Saddam Hussein?). Anyhoo, this place looks to cut it down like a ripe cane crop. My first trial is flawed. The choux pastry isn't technically choux, but it's what's stable and used widely and totally acceptable. The black sesame cream is let down. This needs to be more than buttercream with token black sesame for colour. A vein of sesame paste, or simply more, would impart some flavour. The cream is fine otherwise, but it can't be the sole filling. It's just out of balance. Ideas may be a pastry cream inside the choux, or perhaps a rum ball style mix. It's not easy, but if you wanna climb the fame mountain, you gotta work these things out. *The study shows that erythritol is closely associated with risk for “major adverse cardiovascular events.” In other words, people who have high blood levels of erythritol are more prone to heart attacks, strokes, and even death. The researchers studied the blood of more than 4,000 people in the U.S. and Europe. is closely associated with risk for “major adverse cardiovascular events.” In other words, people who have high blood levels of erythritol are more prone to heart attacks, strokes, and even death. Read moreShio pan was stale. Chicken was moist. Avocado was alright. Garden salad was too sweet because of the QP sesame dressing.
SKIP their hash brown at ALL cost. Not fluffy inside, super burn outside. It felt like muddy potato with super hard crust. Yes, not crispy but HARD crust.
The prawn soba took forever whilts there were literally 2 tables. No I’m sorry, it took 28 minutes to be exact. Prawns were SUPER dry. And burnt. I could make something exactly the same in less than 10 minutes, including all the time I probably need for butterflying, deveining the prawns, julienne the cucumber, cooking and rinsing that store bought soba noodles.
Garlic bread had no hint of garlic. It was alright but, again, bread was stale. Pretty flavourless.
With all due respect to the ingredients and our hard earned money, I finished everything. Was I happy? No. Will I come back? Not a single chance.
Don’t want to drag your overall rating down with a low rating review so I gave you 4 stars but guess what, I gotta be extremely critical...
Read moreI was served quickly by the polite and friendly staff, despite them being busy with other orders. I selected a Matcha Latte (I was given a few milk options, I selected oat milk), a bacon and egg bagel, and a small cheese tart. After paying, I sat at one of the three tables outside and waited.
I hadn't tried Matcha Latte before, so I didn't know what to expect. It tasted quite sweet to me, but the Matcha flavour was not overpowering, so it was enjoyable. The little cheese tart was delicious, the small pieces of fresh fruit on top provided a nice tangy flavour to it.
The bagel took a little longer to arrive, I suspect that it was made fresh, it certainly did look and taste fresh when it was placed on my table. It included a sort of orange sauce, which initially tasted a little spicey for me, but I soon got used to it and enjoyed it.
I was very happy with my meal at Sugar Less Concept, if I have more time on my next visit I'll take a bit more time to peruse their menu, and perhaps order something a little...
