Small portion but very nice quality for the price. All sushi dishes on the rail are the same price which is really good imo.

I had the karaage udon and SO had the teriyaki chicken rice bowl. Both small - yet it was enough to get us almost full. Udon broth was light and heart-warming. Chicken karaage is very soft, juicy and crunchy - as how it should be. Too often I’ve tried karaage here that taste like rubber, or pieces of fried flour...

Teriyaki chicken rice bowl was very filling. The sauce was just right - not too sweet nor too salty. Perfect with rice.

We only tried a few sushi dishes because the udon and rice bowl already got us half full tbh. I was skeptical at first but everything was surprisingly good. Salmon with cream cheese was unexpectedly good - a bit too much cream cheese for me but probably just my taste.

I was very amused with the spring roll-inspired/Viet-inspired? rolls lol (as pictured). Not gonna try, but I’m amused with how they came...

This is by far the best sushi train restaurant in Australia!

I've been there now on numerous occasions. The sushi is consistently super fresh. The service is fantastic. They have a simple 'one price for all plates' pricing model, and it's so reasonably priced that it's the first sushi train I've been to where I'm not constantly totalling up the number of plates/cost in my head as I'm eating.

I was recently travelling around Australia to a couple of different destinations where I tried some sushi trains that had good reviews. Wow - compared to Tanshin, they were so disappointing.

It seems I am forever limited to eating at a sushi train in Newtown if I want to eat consistently highly quality sushi!!

And the staff/owners are so lovely, friendly and down to earth. I feel so welcome each...

I absolutely love this sushi train place! It's a consistent 5-star experience. The fact that all sushi plates are priced at $4.20 is an incredible deal. While they may not have the widest selection, they excel at what they offer, and at that price point, it's hard to find any room for complaints.

One standout feature is the free, fresh wasabi, ginger, and mayo available on the conveyor belt – a rarity at most places. This is my go-to spot for lunchtime cravings. As it is a humble establishment, finding a seat during lunchtime rush can be a bit of a challenge occasionally, unless you arrive promptly. However, I see this as a testament to its popularity.

The staff and service are truly remarkable and corteous, adding to the overall...

Restaurant Review: Tanshin Sushi Bar We recently visited Tanshin Sushi Bar with my family, and it was an amazing experience. As fans of Japanese cuisine, we were delighted by the wide variety of options available on the menu. The portion sizes were generous, and what surprised us even more was the affordable price. All plates were priced at just $4.60. I highly recommend Tanshin Sushi Bar to anyone looking for a delightful Japanese dining experience. Whether you are a sushi enthusiast or simply curious to try something new, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit.

Nice little sushi train spot. The sushi train food was nice. We also ordered curry pork katsu, teriyaki chicken bun bao and salmon teriyaki bun bao. The curry was nice but halfway through I noticed there wasn't any vegetables (unlike the picture on the menu). The boa were hard and didn't look real appealing. Service was great. Really friendly people. I'd go back for the sushi train.
