Only a short 2 min walk from Hurstville station is Thai Thae. A causal thai eatery with a huge kitchen and fully stocked bar. Not your run of the mill thai restaurant, the menu boasts authentic thai with Bangkok street dishes, showcasing a huge menu of with interesting entree additions and also some chefs recommendations for the mains. If you’re coming with a group, they also have a few different banquets. The head chef Nikon trained under the winner of Iron Chef Thailand, Chumpon Jangprai, so he certainly knows his flavour combinations. For the entree we had curry puffs, as well as one of their signature dishes, one of our favourites was the duck larb, a lovely combo or shredded roast duck tossed with Larb served on Chinese cabbage. It had a nice flavour kick to it. We also really liked the Roast Duck Curry and whole steamed barramundi with lime, chilli and ginger. We ordered a few extra things including a green curry and satay stir fry! Both were generous serves. Drinks wise, they do serve alcoholic drinks as well as a great range of mocktails and juices. We loved the lychee mocktail and virgin mojito. We finished off with a rice pudding topped with strawberries. The staff here were kept busy with lots of customers and were friendly in all interactions.

Jan 2022 - COVID safe, which is appetising. Thai here is reasonably priced (not so much on the seafood options), but everything else is great. Quiet location but place can get rather busy. The rice dishes I do recommend and a thick rich laksa if it floats your boat. Curries are also good. Edit (Sept 2022): been here during lunch, they offer a dish + rice for ~16$. Picture advertises with rice and soup. Ordered 3, no soup and also quite tight on meat. Also order delivery and on last delivery there were hairs in TWO separate dishes. The fried rice and laksa. Which is super disappointing. Meat was also super tough, they parcook the meat to ensure speed but the texture is so tough and super chewy. Will put this place at the bottom of my list for Thai in the area.

One of those average dining places in Hurstville but the atmosphere here’s great for dining in. The server was generous enough to place us at the bigger table even though there’s only two of us. They have a wide variety of options to choose from on the menu and it’s hard to decide what to order. We went for chicken skewers, pork belly with veggie, green curry beef and pad thai. Pork belly with veggie was my least favorite among all the dishes. I didn’t enjoy the sauce of the pork belly as it’s thick and heavy for me. The rest of the dishes tasted pretty average to me, tasted like takeaway food but at a higher price. Overall it’s not a bad dining experience as the server was attentive to our table and the service was good.

I've been to this restaurant many times, however, today was the last. We ordered 3 entrees and 4 mains. 2 entrees came but we had no plates to eat from. We then asked the waitress for plates and she returned with only 2. We had to ask for 2 more given there was 4 of us.The mains came and she didn't even bother to clear the table, meaning we had to clear the table ourselves and put our plates on the empty table besides us. When my main meal came, it came without cutlery. So I asked the waitress for chopsticks. She returned with the brittle, wood ones used for takeaway. She quite literally tossed it onto our table before moving on. I called her back, asking for the plastic chopsticks that everyone else on the table received. She was very standoffish and began asking me why I threw the wooden chopsticks onto the table next to us. This was very petty on her part. I expressed my displeasure and informed her that i would not be returning, she replied and said "okay". nothing more, she did not offer any form of apology which isnt typical of those working in customer service. She then went back to the kitchen and spoke to her co-workers in Thai, they began staring in our direction and they even started laughing. The way the waitress acted was simply rude and unprofessional. After being treated in such an unfriendly manner I will never come back. ever. People in customer service should not have such an attitude. The waitress in question should be washes dishes out the back, not serving customers. Replying to this review with an apology will not change the way we were treated. Instead you should teach your staff how to be polite. As customers, we are the ones driving your business, it wouldnt hurt to be treated...

I have eaten in this place for a few years now and most of the times I call I do pick up my order. Food is good and many times when I call I get an error in my order, usually I let it pass because I don't leave that close to drive back again and as long as is not something that I don't eat then I don't mind but last time I asked for Satay noodles with chicken + another 2 meals but instead I got something called Kuakai noodles (that have chicken, prawns and oyster sauce all things that I didn't want) which also was $4 more expensive. I called instead of just leave a poor review (because again I am a long time client and I like the place) but when I explained they asked what I wanted to do. So I said that it was not what I asked for and that this dish had prawns which I didn't like so they could send a new dish or they can refund me. The lady checked and said that they could refund me $2! (She claimed that was the difference of money in between the two dishes) Which I said it was ridiculous... I should have a $19.90 refund or if they send the correct dish I will have returned the untouched food. I should stop buying here, there is Kogarah and so many other places to get good Thai. As per this place don't care about keeping a client...
